"I dunno...but I'm gonna find out." To Kiki's alarm, she saw her brother walk slowly, determinedly to the front door.

"Don't leave me!" she gasped. "I need you!"

But Bronze continued out the door.

" Bronze!" Kiki yelled, that startled Cooper. Kiki ran to her brother and licked him. "Sorry" she said. She then ran oput the door and caught Bronze by the tail. " you cant leave him and I here alone..."

Frowning, Bronze yanked his tail out of his despairing sister's grasp, then marched on. "Kiki, I'll be right back. Maybe Dad's gone far away to get help. I have to find out where he's gone so I can take care of you."

Kiki sighed, hoping that he would soon return. A tear trickled down her cheek. Would things ever work out in her family? The chances seemed slim.

Bronze sighed as he started to walk away from his sister.

Kiki walked back into the home. When she got to the kitchen, Cooper was gone! Kiki looked around as she thought '' Where has he gone?'' She continued to look around untill she picked up a scent. So she then started to follow it. She soon came across some tracks of paws. So she continued on. But these ones wherent her brother's pawprints, they were much bigger, and...it looked like bear tracks. She looked around to see if that bear was anywhere in sight, but no one was there, just the sun setting out on the open. She started to run ater the bear tracks and her brothert's scent.

Meanwhile...


Bronze was so intent on locating his father that he nearly crashed into a telephone pole. When he whipped his head around to see, he realized that there was a faint but deadly scent in the air...and it was coming from his house! He backtracked swiftly, paying no attention whatsoever to passerby. Several humans and dogs stopped to yell reproachfully at Bronze as he picked up the pace...he was almost there...there it was.

The filthy, musky scent of bear terrified him. There was no time to wait on his father. Bronze started forward.

Kiki was determened to find Cooper, but she was so tired. As she walked she suddenly shricked in pain. She lift her paw and saw some blood come out. She had just steped on a sharp rock, but it still hurt. She licked it and then continued. She left blodd in her pawprints, buit she didnt care about herself, she cared about her brother.

Bronze slipeed and stumbled towards the house, following not only his brother's distinct scent but also his sister's. After several tense minutes, he caught up with Kiki.

"What are you doing?!" he cried out, worry almost driving him into hysteria. "Where's Coop?"

Kiki turned around as she herd her brother's voice. She nuzzled him and replyed" I dont know...I think he was taken by a bear" She told him exacly what had happened and waited for his reply.

There was a determined glint in Bronze's eye, much to Kiki's relief. He pivoted sharply on all fours and began to walk at a busy pace, talking to himself all the while. Kiki could tell that he was formulating a plan, and she couldn't wait to hear what it was. Finally he spoke.

"What I think," he murmured to her, "is that we need to follow these tracks at all cost - even if we have to leave Mom and Dad behind."

Kiki smiled. " ok, but we need to leave a message of some kind...you know...to tell them we are ok..." Kiki said. She didnt want to bring the plan down and burn it to ashes,but she didnt want to give her mother a heart attack.

Bronze smiled, knowing what she was thinking. Kiki had always been close to their mother and somehow she didn't get along with their father.
