Sorry for bumpting this, I just noticed something now. In my opinion Zira DID commit suicide in the final movie. Why? Even though the "suicide" scene was taken away and she was given a scream like she slipped off the rock by accident, just look closely at the screenshot on her fall. http://www.animationsource.org/sites_co ... /83532.jpgShe is smiling. All the time. It happened so fast in the movie that nobody really noticed that but now as I see it, I think it's pretty creepy.

Well, I noticed it earlier. Well, after Disney cut Zira's real suicide scene, they left Zira's smiling face. Right?

Sorry to 'rebump' this yet again, but I wanted to add my two cents.
I agree, I think it goes without say that Zira committed suicide. I believe the creators of TLK II: SP had to take out the actual scene of suicide, due to the dark nature of it. But I think they dropped enough hints so that the older generation got the point across.
Not only was she smiling, like you pointed out, but the way her body was so stiff as she did smile kindof added to the fact that it wasn't an accident.. If it were an accident, I'm sure they would have made her flailing her arms, similar to the death scene of Mufasa.
Plus, we can take that one step further and go to the reaction of Kiara. Kiara, being the heart on her sleeve type of character, tried desperately to have Zira find reasoning, and she was trying to help her potential mother-in-law.
Zira swung at her paw, yet Kiara continued to try to help.. When Zira finally did fall, Kiara's reaction wasn't that of ''OH MY GOD, I LET THIS POOR LIONESS FALL, I SHOULD HAVE HELPED MORE OMMGGGGG!!!''. Instead, she was obviously in a state that hinted to the fact that Zira caused the lunge, and Kiara knew there was absolutely nothing she could have possibly done to change the evil lionesses mind. Thus, when Simba did lend his daughter some help, Kiara just calmly said, "I tried.."
These, are all my opinions.
