Jackson stared at her with wide eyes. "You saw it?"
Sadie sat down. "I think I saw it. There was something big and cat-like right outside camp. Didn't coome near us though."

"It's called a blood-thirsty killer's life," Jackson mumbled. He didn't want to get in trouble with Sadie and hoped she and Luke didn't hear his comment.

Sadie hesitated. She doubted it had anything good inside it, but Luke was still a pup. He didn't need to know that. But she couldn't lie to her son, though. "I don't know," she finally said. "Maybe."
Jackson smiled at Nickel. He whispered to her, "I think Sadie does, too, even if she doesn't want to admit it."
