Katie looked up, shaking her head. "What..what if they find out I'm not a dog? They'll...they'll kill me!!" she started to cough, fully laying down upon the floor now. "My babies..and my Cachen, he'll just give up! I can't die! I can't follow my parents like that! Not when I haven't seen them grow up!" she started to sob.
Jenna leaned down, nuzzling her Grandson. "I'm certain your Momma will come out better then ever." she tried to smile.
Tai looked up, nuzzling Balto in return. "It's Momma. It kills to know she's hurting." she said, a few tears running down her face.

Fang shook his head. "I think at the moment they wouldn't care, there are 50-70 dogs or something like that in this place, all sick, they don't have time to check and Kodi has been waiting outside this door all day, I think they'll know that he's your mate." he said. He put his paw on Katie's shoulder. "You can't give up, just think of your pups, they need you to be strong, you have to stay strong, okay?"
Balto wiped his granddaughter's tear away. "I know, I know." he said, nuzzling Tai and curling his fluffy tail around her comfortingly.
Lena glupped. "This is pretty bad, isn't it?" she asked.
Cachen nuzzled Jenna, feeling comfort from her. "Grandma, are you and grandpa gonna get sick too?" he asked, worried.

Katie nodded, breathing deeply. "I'll...I'll try." she said softly. Her eyes were closed, and ears pinned back.
Jenna smiled softly. "No, Cachen, I'm not going to get sick." she said with a slight confidence.
Kai nodded, keeping his eyes directly ahead.
Tai nodded, burying her face into her GrandFather's fur. "It hurts." she said softly.

"That's the Katie I'm proud to think of as a sister, you've got to stay strong." said Fang. He turned to Kodi. "We should really let her rest...do you want to stay with her?" he asked his best friend.
Balto managed to keep a tear from falling. "I know, it hurts, I know how that feels like." he said, caringly. "Hold on, let me get something for you." he said, running to his boat and coming back with his blanket. He laid it over Tai's back. "I've had this sense I was a little pup, I sleep under it every night, it makes me feel safe." he said, curling his tail back around Tai. "Has your papa told you about when I saved the town? If he didn't, I can tell you now if you'd like, would you like that?" he asked, nuzzling her lovingly.
Lena walked, her eyes starting to tear up a little. "I'm glad to have you and the others Kai, if you got sick, I don't know what I'd do."
Cachen managed to smile and look into Jenna's eyes. "I'm glad about that...What about me, papa, grandpa, and my brothers and sisters, are we gonna get sick?"

Katie nodded, standing up with her mate's help, and back into the bed. She collapsed into the soft cot, eyes steadily closing.
Kodi sighed. "I'll stay with her, just in case any of the pups come...Just to calm them down, you know?" he smiled at his mate.
Jenna smiled back. "sicne your GrandPa and your Dad are wolf/dogs. That means all of you are safe and sound from this." she chuckled, lookign at Tai, wrapped up in Balto's blanket. "That reminds me; you remember my old bandana, Balto?"
Kai nodded. "Well, we're not gonna get sick." he stated.
Tai smiled, watching Balto come back form his boat, then drape the old blanket across her body. "Thanks, GrandPa." she smiled, nuzzling into the warmth. "Hmm, Papa's told all sorts of stories, but not really the entire." she said lightly, almost as if she'd fall asleep.

Fang nodded. "I'll go wait outside...if your pups come by, should I bring them here?" he asked.
"Of course I do, you looked so beutiful in it, isn't on my boat?" he asked before looking back to Tai. "Alright then, you see back then, everone hated your grandpa, they didn't trust me. One dog, Fang's father Steele, a real mean one, he always picked on me, called me names and all sorts of stuff. He tried to make grandma his mate but she didn't like him." he said, smiling to Jenna. "Well one day the children of Nome came down with this awful illness called Diptheria, Jenna's owner was one of them, she was the only human in town that was nice to me..." he kept on telling the story to Tai, keeping his tail curled snuggling around her to keep her warm as his blanket was..
Lena nodded. "That makes me glad." she said.
Cachen had been told this story by Balto once before so he wasn't listining. "I'm glad grandma, I don't want us to get sick." he said, cocking his head, wondering why Jenna wanted her old bandana.

Kodi nodded. "If they want to see their Mother, please, lead them in?" he asked his friend, curled around Katie.
Jenna nodded, getting up and making a quick trot over to Balto's boat, coming back with and old red bandana in her mouth. She chuckled, placing it around Cachen's neck. "Now, when your Grandpa heard they were having a race to make up a sled team to get the antitoxin, he decided he was going to race. He did win, but, Steele did this awful thing, and made it seem like he wasn't fit to run, because he was part wolf. So, Grandpa didn't go. But, he did do something very brave; he went off on his own, once he found out that Steele and the team were lost in a blizzard." she smiled at Tai's almost mezmerized face.
Kai nodded, nuzzling his sister. "Makes me glad too." he smiled.
Tai blinked. "That's so cruel. How can Fang look so nice and be so kind when his Father was so black-hearted?" she blushed faintly at the thought of Kodi's teammate, having had a crush on him for quite a while.

Fang nodded. "Sure thing, sweet dreams Katie." he said as he headed back down through the floor. Please wake up though he thought as he stepped outside to keep watch for any of Kodi's little ones.
Balto smiled and touched his nose to his granddaughters. "Well he's so nice because his momma was a nice wolf dog just like your grandpa." he said. "So I went off but it wasn't long before I got into a real mess." he said. "I ran into a big, mean, nasty grizzly bear." he said, making himself look like a bear before laughing. "I tried my best but I couldn't beat it and it nearly crushed the life out of me...until your grandma did something very brave." he said, looking at Jenna to continue.
Lena nodded. "Now let's just hope momma gets better." she said.
Cachen looked at Jenna's old bandana around his neck. He smiled and nuzzled his grandma. "Thank you very much grandma!" he said.

Katie smiled at Fang as he walked out the door, her eyes fully closing as she drifted off itno a peaceful rest. Kodi smiled, laying his head gently on her neck.
Jenna laughed, nuzzling her grandson. "I attacked the grizzly bear, but, it did some damage on me, nearly broke my front leg. So your Grandpa led it out into a frozen lake, and nearly got himself drowned. Two of his friends went in and rescued him...Which I'm very glad for. When he came to, he was freezing cold, so I wrapped around him until he warmed up." she looked at Balto, then to Cachen. "You're welcome...very welcome."
Kai nodded, looking up at the approaching hospital. "She will."
Tai laughed, rolling over onto her back with a giggle. She smiled innocently. "Momma told me some parts of the story that Papa told her; is this when it gets all mushy?" she grinned.

Fang saw the pups aproching. He let out a sigh and put a little smile on his face. "Hey guys! Come here!" he yelled.
Balto nodded. "Just a little bit." he said, making sure the blanket was still wrapped around his little granddaughter. "Well I had my friends take grandma back to Nome because she was hurt, she gave me the same bandana Cachen is wearing now." he said, Cachen in fact looked a bit like him at the moment, the only problem was the bandana was far to large for him. "Well I went on on my own. I finally found Steele and his team, they'd slid down a big hill, their musher was knocked out. I went down and offered to help them. The rest of the team agreed because I'd marked the trail and could lead them home but mean old Steele got really mad. He attacked me, I didn't fight back because I didn't want to risk the antitoxin. He beat me up but I kept getting up, he even threw me really hard into a big rock, almost busted my skull open. If I didn't have my loved ones counting on me, I probably wouldn't of been able to get up. Then Steele made one mistake, he grabbed the bandana and tried to pull me over with it but her fell off a big cliff. Then he messed up my trail and got the team lost. He went back to Nome and pulled a really nasty trick." he looked at Jenna to continue.
Cachen looked at the bandana, feeling pride his grandpa had worn it once before.

Kai blinked, lookign at Fang before grinning at Lena. "your lover boy's calling for ya." he chuckled.
Jenna sighed, thinking back to that day. "Steele had come back to Nome, and said that Balto and the sled team had fallen off a cliff and died. To prove it to the other dogs, he gave me my bandana and said your GrandFather made him promise to take care of me. Now, you know your Grandma's not stupid...and didn't believe it for one minute. Everyone else had given up hope, but not me. On the hill outsdie of town, I did the same trick your Grandpa taught me, and made the Northern Lights, as a beacon for him." she looked at Balto, before whispering to Cachen. "Sweetie, the reason I gave it to you, is because, you need to be brave right now. And you can keep it."
Tai smiled, continuing to listen to the story with a few occaisional giggles.

Fang ran over to the pups, towering over them somewhat from both age and breed. "Hey guys, are you here to see your momma? Your dad told me if any of you came to see her to lead the way." he said.
Balto nodded. "In Steele's defense, I really did fall of a cliff but what I saw down there was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen. It was a beutiful white wolf, white as the snow. You see at the point, I was kind of ashamed to be part wolf sense it seemed to only cause me trouble but that wolf reminded me just how importent that part of me was. I found out later that that wolf was named Aniu and she is my momma. I climbed back up, carring the antitoxin up the cliff the whole time. I set it back on the sled and used my sense of smell to get us back on the path, and your grandma's becon to finally lead us home, where the antitoxin I'd pulled all that way saved so many lives and I'll never forget what Jenna's owner Rosy told me when she woke up." he said and looked to Jenna to finish the story.
Lena's eyes went wide. She glared at her brother before looking at Fang. "Lead the way." he said.
OOC: could Kai also call Fang uncle like I mentioned Cachen?
Cachen didn't know what to say, he hisataited for a few minutes before nodding. "Alright, I'll be brave grandma." he whispered.

Kai blinked lightly, before giving a light smile. "Lead the way, Uncle." he said.
Jenna nodded, giving a light smile. "My girl had awoken, and told your GrandFather how she'd be lost without him. And he got a hero's welcome when he came back. From that day forward, very gradually, peopel and dogs alike, have been warming up to your Grandpa." she nuzzled Cachen softly. "Thank you," she whispered.

Fang nodded and lead them in under the vet's. He gulpped at the cries of agony from the suffering dogs above them. He got under Katie's room and lifted both pups up into the room by their scrufs. "There you go."
Balto nodded. "And as you can see, me and grandma have had a good life ever sense." he said. He nuzzled Tai tenderly. "Did you like that story Tai?" he asked, licking her nose.
Lena went over to Kodi and Katie. "Hi papa." she said and looked at Katie. "Momma? Are you alright?" she asked, suddenly feeling very scared.
"You're welcome." whispered Cachen, smiling. He frowned, still frightened for his mother. I have to be brave...I have to be brave he thought. "Can I still be worried?" he whispered.

Kodi smiled slightly at his two oldest pups. Before looking down at Katie. "Your Momma's asleep right now, she's had quite a bit of a start." he gave a shaky smile at his friend.
Jenna nodded, giving a slight chuckle. She licked Cachen's cheek. "Of course, this is your Momma we're talking about...I would be shocked if you weren't worried." she looked at Balto, "And even the greatest hero's cry." she whispered.
Kai gulped, hearing the cries as they walked. They killed him inside. As he was hauled up, he looked at his Mother, face pale, but a slight smile over her face. Heck, he could hear her wheezing from the strain to breathe!
Tai nodded, licking Balto's nose in return. "Yes, thank you, GrandPa." she smiled sweetly, a pang of fear still glittered in her, but she tried to stay smiling for Cachen's sake.
