Lik the story. It's a cool idea,but why does Cheryl get so upset? Why does the male wolf think they need to kill the pups or leave them? I'm not sure I understand some of it-good though.

Because of the nightmares. Apollo (the male wolf) keeps having nightmares revolving the other pups, and since that mysterious wolf appeared he can´t shake off the bad feeling, that, and he is a bit too overprotective of his family. But aren´t all fathers like that? Edit: Oh, and Cheryl feels protective of her unborn pups as an encouraged motherly instinct, and so both are bound to clash because of that.

Hey Everyone! Sorry for not updating! Been a bit occupied lately. Anyways, Happy Valetines Day!
Don't worry, Lux. I don't mind. (Though I enjoy you helping me with my story)
----------------
The wolf siblings approached the deer herd, who was starting to get startled and jumpy. Every deer began to pace, with ears high and heads held up high. They began forming a circle, walking slightly fast in circles, with the males far on the oustide. Grunts and squeals were heard, acompanied by alarmed shouts of 'wolves!' 'run!' 'They're here!'.
By the time they caught sight of the wolves however, it was too late. The small pack had the herd surrounded. No matter how they tried to escape and run, one of the year old canines would appeared with fangs beared. The herd really couldn't settle with the fact that only one of them could fall. Panic inhabited each of their minds, and it only urged them to walk faster. After a while, every animal had broken into a trot, the small stampede thundering continuosly, pebbles bouncing uncontrollably.
Everything lasted for a while. The pack would move around, trying to find the best target. They growled while deer belowed. Barked while the larger animals squealed. Tension lay heavy in the air as the herd tried desperately to get away from the group's deadly circle. They were surrounded, with no way to escape. One attempt only lead to another, all of them leading to failure. It seemed there was no hope until Cobalt tripped with the uneven ground, yelping as he fell. A buck saw this as his oportunity, jumping over the year old pup and escaping, runninig as fast as his long legs could carry him. Instinctively, the siblings ran after the deer while the herd stampeded away. The buck was really young. His antlers were still growing, and he was easily smaller than a full grown buck. The animal sped away as the pack chased after him. His nible legs carried him away, but the uneven ground made it hard to escape. The barks of wolves behind him only cause him to panic. As he tried to speed up, it caused the buck to stumble.
A fatal mistake.
Before the buck could regain his foot, the wolves lunged at him, knocking the animal down. Grunting as it hit the uneven ground, the buck moaned, calling for it's herd to come help him. The rest paid no attention as they ran away with fear, one deer halting quickly to glance pitifully at her friend, before shooting off to join the rest, avoiding becoming like her comrade.
As the herd stampeded away, the wolves lunged at their prey, aching to put it to peace and rip away the small chance he had of surviving. The buck moaned, each weaker but all the same useless. He had made an error and paid the price.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tired, the pups dragged their food away. There was such a big risk of being attacked. Wolf pups were easily seen as a small threat and just another easy access to prey. All of them were well aware of this, especially with Hunter reminding them every ten minutes.
" Hurry up! If we get attacked we'll lose our meal!" River dropped his portion of the fallen prey to glare at his brother.
" We know that already! Stop talking, or you will be the one to atract attention!" The second born lightly snapped. Hunter turned away in a huff.
" Pick up the leg and keep walking."
" Yes, mom..."
" Hunter!" The older pup glared at him, his muzzle stained from holding the buck's neck for so long.
Just then, some rustling in a weedy looking bush nearby atracted the attention of all the litter. Their ears swiveled, high on alert and their different colored furs bristled, as they thought about growling at whatever was there.
" Show yourself!"
" Please..." A faint voice responded which seemed husky, timid and weak. The other semi grown wolves glanced at each other, before turning to the source of the sound. It smelled of only one animal, something similar to their own wild scent.
Out of the bushes emerged an old wild dog. He was a bit thin, his ribs showing and his sandy colored coat, matted and tainted with dried mud and dirt. Hunter lowered his guard upon seeing that this canine was too weak, and outnumbered, to cause them any harm.
" Please young kids. Would you be so kind as to share a small portion of your meat?" His stare locked desperatly at the carcass that the wolves dragged.
River stared at the old dog with suspicious eyes.
" Why? So you can tell your buddies to come and take from us too?" Hunter turned to glare at his brother as the wild canine shook his head, legs barely shaking of hunger.
" I live alone in this inmense forest." The firstborn pup turned him.
" What is your name, sir?" The tan dog smiled at him with grateful eyes.
" Jack. No need to be formal, just call me Jack." Hunter nodded.
" Well then Jack. Here. " He muttered as he gave him a mouthful of a chunk of meat. " I apologize for my brother's rudeness." Jack gave a toothy grin. " One can't help but be a rebellious teen at your age."
" I wish I could repay you, but as I am now, I'd be more of a bother."
" No kidding..."
" River!" The older sibling snarled, whirling around to face his brother.
" It's all right. Say, what is your name right now, young fella?" Hunter turned to the old dog, unsure of what to say.
" Don't worry. I won't peep a word." Jack winked, his dirty coat hanging on his body.
" Hunter." The pup answered. He had a gut feeling nothing would go wrong.
" Very well then. I will repay you soon Hunter. Someday, if we crossed roads again." The wild dog nodded, before walking off with his meat.
The other pups looked at each other, before Hunter walked over to the dead buck, putting the horns into his teeth, and beginning to haul them off once more, hoping to at least be able to keep their sisters, and themselves, alive.
Aw! Thanks guys! This pretty much is a slow post.
-----------------------------
Late morning had come, and the pups could barely smell the bitter metallic scent of blood as they neared. Fearing that it would endanger their sisters if they pulled the carcass any closer, Hunter, River and Cobalt resolved to guard it while Juneau went to drag out their sisters. To tell the truth, the youngest male wasn't so sure about it. He didn't want to see the corpse of his mother and siblings.
He stared worriedly with amber eyes at the entrance. The smell was absolutely putrifying. It was mixed of sweat, death and blood. His nose wrinkled, and he unconciously took two steps backwards.
" Sky?.... December? Are you guys there?" He called out, refusing to enter the den. However, his ears stood still at a different, familiar voice.
" Go and see what your brother wants. I'll be here." The yearling's eyes widened, and as he tried to get a closer look, both of his sisters emerged, blocking his view.
" What's up, Juneau?" December muttered tiredly. He came to the conclusion that the stress didn't let her sleep. The pup meerly stared at both of them with a blank look, until he remembered why he had been sent there.
" Um.... Oh! Yeah! We managed to drag down a buck, he's a bit farther from the den. Though I think we might have to move soon." Sky's eyes drooped a bit.
" Yeah. That's gonna be a bit of a problem." Juneau stared at her with a confused look.
" What do you mean?" December motioned him to follow her. As he entered the den with a frown, unable to breath right, he noticed an extra wolf in the den, one that shouldn't have been there.
" Mom? You're all right?" Cheryl's ears swiveled, and she turned her head to look at one of her older pups. She smiled.
Juneau stared at his mother. She was glowing with happiness, despite being tired and dirty. Her fur was covered in sweat, dirt, and the bottom part of her body in dry blood. Her eyes were slightly closed, and her ears began to droop slightly. Her body lay on the ground, back facing him. Cheryl was completely exhausted, but she was happy.
" Come closer, son." He did as he was told, claws clicking on the rough ground. His eyes widened when he saw a puppy. A black puppy, nursing on his mother's teats. He stared with his jaw wide open.
" Close your mouth, honey." Composing himself, Juneau stared at the pup, awe stuck.
" How?..."
" She survived." Sky spoke up, not taking her eyes of the pup.
" Does she have a name?" He asked, looking at anyone who might've seemed to have an answer. He saw the same look in all three eyes.
" Silhouette." December answered, speaking up before anyone could beat her. " Her name is Silhouette."
Juneau nodded, looking at the pup. The name fit her. That much was enough. It was elegant and unique.
" Are you guys coming to eat?" He said, curious as to what his mother would do. Cheryl sighed as her stomach growled. She needed nourishment. Silhouette depended on it. What to do? She couldn't leave the den. For two reasons, she couldn't leave a newborn pup, and she felt too tired to stand up.
" Bring me a large piece." She layed her head on the ground.
The young wolf nodded, and guided his sisters to the carcass, that, aside from injuries blown when they had hunted (and the missing chunk given to a certain wilf dog), was intact. Apparently the others didn't want to eat, though River had a look that was a mix of anger and longing. They could easily guess that River hadn't wanted to wait, and that Hunter had put him in his place.
All of them ate quietly, but Hunter couldn't help but think about Jack. He was a strange dog. The first born couldn't help but wonder why he was alone. After all, he should've had a family. And even then, he wondered if Jack had lied. What if he really had a family. But then there would be no reason to beg for food.
Then, of course, when they had finished, Juneau, Sky and December ripped remaining pieces of meat, taking it in their muzzles as they walked towards the den.
" What are you doing?" All of them froze on the spot. They turned to stare at their brothers, glanced at each other, before December dropped her meat to respond.
" We're bringing meat for mom." All of the other male siblings eyes widened.
" What?"
" Mom's okay?"
" She survived?"
Questions began pouring out of the excitement, and it seemed as if the youngest had turned into the older siblings. All of them tried to muster out of the circle they had been corraled in, as the others kept asking questions that they were unable to make out.
December, being the third oldest out of all of them, jumped onto River's back, before running towards the den.
" Follow me!" She shouted, and like magic, the others began running after her.
Juneau and Sky were the only ones left behind, both sitting on the ground with dumbstruck expressions.
" What just happened?" Juneau shrugged.
^-^ Thank you. O_o I haven't updated in like, forever...
-------------------------
That night, everyone huddled together as they slept, curled up near another to maintain the body heat. Cheryl rested her head on one of her pups. She was too tired to focus on who it was exactly, but there came no complaints from the unconcious pup.
Her eyes rested upong the walls of the den, though they were unfocused and her mind was somewhere else entirely. As she thought of the sleeping pup, snuggled against her own fur for warmth, she worried too. Even now could the she-wolf feel the winds of a chilly winter aproaching, despite the fact that she was in the center of the circle. She needed to find a suitable place to pass the winter, where her first litter and Silhouette could spend without much worries aside from the basic needs. She sighed, ears lowering lazily as she mulled this over. Apparently the newborn pup had sensed her worry, for she'd started to whimper loudly.
Almost instinctivly the mother turned around, licking the pup's head to calm her. She curled tighter to make sure the cold didn't get to the pup. Once the cries had stopped, Cheryl looked back, staring at the stars that glowed faintly that night. It had been long and tired, and most of the time was spent resting in the cave, getting aquainted with their new visitor.
The tri-colored wolf figured that they'd have to start traveling soon, and find a new den before the cold set in. She only hoped for the best that her surviving pup would make it throughout the harsh season.
************************
This new world was strange to me. I did not understand any of it. I felt as if being snapped into awareness. My body was tightened into a ball, making me warmer, but despite that I could feel myself resting on something much bigger. This presence made me feel safe, and I felt no doubt that whatever it was would defend me to the death.
The presence was awake. The sweet scent that it carried was disrupted and distorted by a metallic smell, which I could not find comfort in. But I leaned against something soft, tickling me gently. It moved steadily, rising and falling in a steady beat. The warmth was nothing compared to what I had before, but I figured that it would be the closest thing I could get.
*************************
The next day, dread slowly filled the air, warning inhabitants of the oncoming weather. A slight fog filled the forest, chilling winds shooting shivers down the thickest of furs. To most, it was nothing unusual.
For a puppy, it was nerve racking.
Cheryl trotted forward with new found energy, her pup between jaws as her grown litter escorted her, three yearlings on each side. Currently her ears were tucked backwards, nose wrinkled as her face twisted into a slight frown. All the other pups held a same expression of annoyance, while others were slightly fearful.
The current reason behind it all was the black bundle known as Silhouette. Since the moment they'd stepped out of the den, preparing to leave their messy home, the newborn had been crying and whimpering, taking an immediate dislike to the cold.
Basically, the pup was throwing an alarm for any potential predator. Sky was trying to calm the pup, hushing soft words seeing as her mother was currently holding Silhouette. The results were comical as the yearling failed, even getting the puppy to wail in her ear one time.
After what seemed like an eternity did the black newborn quiet down, her ignored pleas reverting to simple whimpers. The only other noise was the sound of panting and crushed leaves. Cheryl was almost grateful, but she worried. They needed to find some sort of shelter soon, otherwise Silhouette would get sick in the open.
Hunter was pretty sure they were at the borders of their area of the forest. Suddenly his ears pricked, and he motioned for River and Cobalt to follow him, breaking into a steady run. They had been doing so for a few minutes, before finding what seemed like some sort of den. A tree fell over the top, roots sticking out in the air and a bush covered the exit almost entirely.
Eyes widening, the pups bounded over to it with caution. The scents that surrounded it were old and faint, and Cobalt looked inside the den to find it was abandoned. The place smelled of some raccoon, probably male. It was small, but it would do.
Hunter told Cobalt to stay and try to dig out more space, while he and River went to fetch the others.
--------------------------
It's not very big, but at least it's something. ^^
