"Oh, really?" Max decided if Balto was suffering, she was too.

Ken raised an eyebrow and knew what Maximum had on her mind.

She raced back over to Steel, fur bristling slightly, "Why do you treat Balto like that? If you ask me, you're the halfbreed trash!" She lashed her tail and ignored the other dogs around her.

Curling her lip, she snapped, "Being half wolf doesn't mean anything! It's the inside that counts, not the outside. Look at me, my hole family history besides my mother was half or all wolf, but can YOU tell?"

Ken growled. "Now you've done it, Maxie." Quickly he stepped inbetween his friend and Steele, growling at him with fur bristling. He was half wanting them to calm down, and half agreeing with Max.

Two others, around the age of Steele, trotted up behind the feuding dogs, watching and waiting for what would happen. The had small smirks on their faces as they watched.

One seemed to be a mixture of cream and gold, his under belly lighter and bearing a brown patch around his eye. He seemed quite muscular for his age and had a good body build, but he wasn't as bulky or handsome as his friend, Steele. This one's name was Kaltag.

Kaltag didn't get much attention from the female dogs - all of that type of attention was directed towards Steele, it seemed. The dog didn't mind too much, though. He wasn't interested in girls yet [he was still in that boyish immature state of things - he didn't know why Steele liked them so much].

The other was a brown color, with a lighter underbelly and facial marking. He was quite bulkier than Kaltag and Steele, and although he was fit and could run for quite some time, it didn't always appear it on the outside. It was mainly his coat that made him look like this, in his opinion. He had heard his master talking about it before - he said that he would make a great sled dog, just maybe not the lead. This dog's name was Nikki.

Kaltag managed to pull his eyes off the small bickering scene in front of him and turned his attention towards Nikki.

"Where's Star? You seen him lately?" Kaltag barked, almost silently. Star was another of their friends - a bit goofier - but the two hadn't seen him yet that day. "He's missing out on all the action."

Ken turned to Balto quickly, "If I know Maxie, she always knows what she's doing!"

Maximum's neck fur bristled, and she spat at Star, "Why I'm speaking to another living being, is who I'm talking to!" Lashing her tail, she turned back to Steele with her eyes narrowed to slits.

"Max!" Ken snapped for her to be quiet, but mostly just did it out of protection.

"What?" Max snapped at Ken. "It's all true! He thinks he's some big shot!"

Ken flattened his ears in another, more serious warning.

Balto gave Max a look simular to Ken's but a little more compassionit, he didn't want her to get hurt, he barely had friends. He kneq Steele could kill her if he wanted too. Please just come back, I don't want anyone to get hurt because of me. he thought.

Star would of snarled but he thought this was rather intresting, he wondered how Steele was going to react.

Silvie was startled by the pup's bravery, of couse she was the same age. "Dixie, what do you think of this?" she asked.

OOC: thank you but I've kind of been waiting for Dixie to say something, not to rush you.

Max's fur bristled, and she had no fear of Steele or any one of his followers.

Maximum was now almost losing control; the thought of dogs disliking each other because one was half something else made her sick. Things weren't like that where she came from! Why, her master had a whole kennel of wolfdogs that were better and faster than any pure dog in Nome.

She tried to take a step forward to show she meant business.

Ken immediately stepped on her tail and made her stop. "Max, I think we need to go."

"What?!"

"I mean it. He walked over and nipped her ears, nuding her the other way from Steele.

Max growled and slowly moved away. But if they made one comment, she planned to turn right around again. Now she was out of her shell, her usually kind, but stubborn and headstrong personality showing.

Balto was happy Ken had stopped his sister from picking a fight with Steele. He looked Max in the eye. "You don't want to fight him, trust me. I know you want to help me but that's no reason to get yourself beat up, which Steele is quite capable of." he said, remembering some beatings he'd gotten from Steele.
