I agree - this problem isn't being resolved at all.

Since there are people on this site who actually are submitting good articles (Cat, Steet, and myself are included . . . I know that much) and others know that these pointless one-two liner articles about simple animation goofs or how the Balto series reminds them of another who-really-gives-a-darn series really need to stop getting accepted.

Honestly, the writer(s) should have known better prior to typing the first word of their pointless waste of fodder by the opening part of submitting an article - it has to be informative and interesting, not stupid and obvious. I even think there is a part on the rules that states something about no animation goofs or errors . . . and yet, these are still being accepted onto the site.

What. The. HECK.

I seriously don't get what the problem is and why these dumb writers haven't gotten the message yet.

(I can't blame the mods here, you know - I know not all of them would dare allow a short article onto the sites!)

There are many of these sadly, and i've seen an artical, that had NO imformation what SO ever, and a FanImage? Like, how on earth did THAT get acepted? One, fanimages don't belong in articals, and two, that was a pretty bad render.

YES! BUt I'm particularly getting angry over articles that say the SAME. THING. That literally TEN other articles have said. It is literally the exact same thing being said over and over and over. How do people even say they have this "new theory" when its been discussed about over a million times? Are these articles supposed to strike conversation or something? Its been done already and it not exactly HELPING the site whatsoever.

http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... html&all=1 This article is just useless in itself.

http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... html&all=1 THIS article is plagiarized from THIS article http://users.tpg.com.au/users/cnicholl/ ... istory.htm

http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... html&all=1 This is the umpteenth article saying the animators were lazy in Balto 2, which even tho Steele couldn't even be squeezed into the plot ANYWAY, which is the stupidest reason for not having a character in a film.

http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... html&all=1 This person didn't even SEE the movie, so I don't know what gives them any right to write an article about it, let alone accept it. Why is this a problem? Its sending out false information.

http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... html&all=1 This article is about Aleu's eyes. Just like this one http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... /1390.html this one http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... ./168.html and this one http://baltosource.timduru.org/en/b1art ... g/186.html Oh wait, this one's DIFFERENT its about the GLOWING EYES in Balto two. My mistake -.-

So what is going on here? Just because we can categorize the same article with the other ones just like it that are just as lame? What are we encouraging here???

In my opinion, instead of bumping long-dead topics, compile them all into one topic in the Suggestions forum and give us your ideas on improving this.

As for the rest of the article mods, I'm sure Togo will give a lecture.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out what needs to be done. This is in the rant box because no one is DOING anything about it. And there's no need to make a new topic about it when there's nothing new to say about it. (Wow, kind of like the articles.)

Just saying you are likely to get more support in the Suggestions forum (The Rant Board is really only read by a minority of the average number of online members each day).

And technically, nothing can be done about it unless we figure out who accepts these articles.

Which isn't very hard to figure, considering Articles have two moderators. It could be a glitch in the system, though, allowing some articles through without being checked by a mod first. I'll have a look.

[edit]: Looks like it is a moderator issue. The system is working perfectly.

Cat, you are so right. This is... urgh. I made an article for clearing up mis-conceptions, but I didn't realise that it would be published to the site when I clicked 'save'.
It covers (or will cover) a lot of things like the breed of real Balto, Steele's breed (which I thought was resolved, but apparently not) Aleu's eyes, and many more. With at least a paragraph (4-8 lines, on average) on each, which makes it a decent length article.

There are probably only twenty maximum 'good' articles on BOTH sites.

Seriously.

It's the writer's fault for posting them, and the mod's for accepting them.

My article on the disease that sparked the serum run: ... valid I think?

Here's how it all breaks down.

Animation Problems: Good job, poindexter. Now sit down, shut up, and enjoy the movie like the rest of us. We don't care that you noticed LOL NO TEETH. How do you even notice these things? You have to be watching the movie to FIND mistakes at this point, and if you do that in your spare time then forsake your social life for Balto right now (if you haven't already.)

Balto's Parents: Anyone who has seen Balto and Wolf Quest knows that Balto's parents are a wolf and a husky. It's not new information. Now, if you can give us an official name and look for Balto's father straight out of the mouths of the people who worked on the movies, THEN we might be impressed.

Breeds of the characters: This sort of falls under the "who cares" category. Steele's breed is Canis Pompous. Glad we got that cleared up.

Balto comparisons: Cat summed it up.
Quote:
OH! And apparently, the "HOW BALTO IS RELATED TO ___" thing is becoming a problem. Pretty soon we're going to have articles saying "How Balto is related to Saw IV"

Just to spite you, Cat, I'm going to write "How Balto is Related to Cannibal Holocaust." Of course there are movies that mirror Balto! It's not a unique plot in all honesty. A hero saving the day and getting the girl? Cookie cutter plot. See: Any given Disney movie.

Balto's Pups: No, they don't specify who Dingo and Saba are. The red Aleu twin and the red-faced pup weren't named (Kiona is Cat's fan character. I've seen like... five people say that the red-faced pup is named Kiona.) This doesn't green-light a slew of articles that say the same thing over and over again.

Balto is half wolf IRL: According to history, he's not. Why is this even still an issue?

Eye colors: Why are there so many articles about eye colors? Following the rules of genetics (or by using a Mendell Square) we can see that it is possible to produce differently colored eyed children. My mom has blue eyes and my dad has brown. I have green eyes. See? Possible. (They're called "recessive traits" in the off chance you never took biology.)

I'm sure there are more cliches, but my brain is shutting down on me at the moment.

I also had a strange occurrance where one of my articles not yet finished somehow managed to end up on site even when I hadn't pressed the 'send to moderators' button, so I asked it to be sent back. Instead, I think it got deleted. Fun!

Also there's like 598794829087 repeat articles. Can we please have a firm reminder to the fan article mods NOT to process articles with a few lines or articles done before? They seem to be passing anything that's a few lines and a few pictures.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but everytime I get on this site, it shows me the new articles, and when I see something like "HOW BALTO IS RELATED TO ERAGON" I just want to throw someone down a flight of stairs.

Oh wow, you just made my day.

On topic, I have seen a lot of articles about how people think that Balto is related to Dusty or Nava just because they "look similar". Why Nava? We all know that his father was a dog and Nava looks a lot like a wolf to me. These people have a little too much time on their hands.

Another thing that annoys me is the people who think that the real Balto was a wolfdog, instead of a husky. Even though everything and everyone else says otherwise, they stick to their belief based on "some book they read a long time ago that they can't remember the title of."
