Why do some of you like Steele?

Not exactly. I understand Steele is the bad guy and I honestly wanted him to lose. But the fact that he is such a good villian is the reason I like him. Just because some people like him doesn't mean that they are just intolerant of any virtue.

I was talking about some people on this site specifically. It was really based on extraneous circumstances (things outside this topic).

I'm actually anti-Steele and hated him fiercely for a couple of years after I started watching the movie. After a while, however, I began to appreciate the fact that he is an extremely well-played character - a very classic villain. To this day I dislike him for his personality and poor intentions; but I do admit that he makes a marvellous "bad guy."

Well put Iditarod, I hate him too for his meanness, and selfishness-and how he treated Balto, and others.
But he is A 'good' villan

I guess I can't bring myself to like a bad guy, even if he's a good bad guy. As an example, in my latest fanfic there's a bad guy. And he does an awful, terrible thing. Maybe he's a "good villain", because he plays his part and makes you hate him, but that's just it - I hate that guy. I really hate him. And I created him!

I can't "like" a bad guy like that. In order for me to make him unlikeable, I really have to not like him. My hate for that character is what fuels my other characters' responses though, and ultimately what makes it work. So as far as Steele goes, I don't like him at all. He may be doing a good job at being a bad guy, but I don't think I will ever honestly be able to say I like him.

He's the canine equivalent to a racist, he pushes himself on a girl who obviously wants to be rid of him by any means possible, and he was willing to kill off an entire town full of kids just to feed his own ego. If that's your idea of a good person, I'd hate to see what a bad one is like. How much worse could he be?

Exactly.

And that is what makes him such a good villain. That he's realistic, and stops and NOTHING to get what he wants.

Which is Steele fans adore and love him so much.

I'm a villain lover myself, and Steele is definetely my favourite villain. Plus my favourite character out of the entire Balto series.

Balto would've sucked without Steele.
