It's also more likely that they'll recommend the movie to someone else also, getting them into it.

I meant the amazon package with all 3 balto movies, not the three pack with land before time and an amaerican tale.

It's still pretty convenient if you happen to want all three movies... though I can't imagine why you'd want the 2001 DVD release of Balto 1 over the 1996 VHS release.

Yeah it would be convenient but with Amazon they ship them all together anyway so it pretty much is pointless to buy the Balto "3 pack" when you can just put each movie in your cart and they ship you all 3. That is why it led me to believe it might of been a 3 disc set since to me it would be pointless to buy the 3 pack when you can just click your mouse a couple of more times and end up with them for about 8 dollars cheaper.

And VHS players are becoming more and more rare.
And the DVD quality is still better.
And it's more difficult to rip the video from a VHS than for a DVD.

Shipping and handling for 3 different orders will probably cancel that out.

I thought talk about illegal activities wasn't allowed here!

It's not illegal; as long as you own the original and you keep it for yourself.
I did it to keep a small version of the Balto films in divx on my hard drive, so that I can watch them with any regular player. Dvds take more space and are more difficult to read (and I don't mention the adverts and all) I don't want to have to look for the disks when I want to watch them.
And many people here make music videos, so they have to do it too.

Now Balto's in a three pack with two other Amblimation films, I wonder how long it will be until Universal release a pack with all three Balto films.

Huh? I thought that American Tail wasn't Amblimation. Isn't Fievel Goes West the only AT by Amblimation?

An American Tail was made by Amblimation in its early days.

Well, I never thought about this, but in fact you're right :

Although it's a bit the same studio...

On top of this, Don Bluth made Land Before Time, not Steven Spielberg.

Are you sure? Didn't Amblimation only make three films (We're Back, Fievel Goes West, and Balto) it its lifetime?

According to Wikipedia, these were all the films/shorts made by Amblimation:

An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991)
A Wish for Wings That Work (television special based on the comic strip Bloom County) (1991)
Fievel's American Tails (television series) (1992-1993)
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story (1993)
Balto (1995)

An American Tail was made by Almblin Entertainment, which later teamed up with Universal Studios to form Amblimation.

Don Bluth, Georges Lucas and Steven Spielberg, all three worked on Land Before Time (not kidding...)
I had never noticed that it wasn't Amblimation at the time though...That would explain why the animation suddenly jumped to a much better one starting from Fievel goes west.
