It's easier with a Dvd (and with a better quality)
But it's possible. You need a card on your PC for acquiring the signal (TV card for example) So if you haven't got one, it would be cheaper to buy the dvd instead.

Nero isn't a good ripping program, it's more a software to burn cds. You should try NeoDivx or Smartripper for example.

I use vStrip and Virtual Dub for most of my stuff- and both are free

EDIT: forgot to add that these are the basics for ripping a DVD. If you are willing to pay for something a little better, then you would have it off a lot better.

DVD Decryptor...wonder if anyone still has it- other than me. Apparently, it was banned??? I think it was a little too good for the DVD comanies so they shut down one of the best programs around.

Rip the DVD to your computer (i.e. DVD Decryptor, vStrip, etc.) and have them .vobs. Then you can use another program (I still use vStrip for then converting these .vobs to .avi or .mpg)

Then later I convert them to M4V or M4V-AKJII, but leaving the movie .avi or .mpg will work for Movie Maker when importing them.
