I don't want to get anyone (myself included) in trouble for religious references, so I'll try to keep this to the Old Testament, which is regarded by both Christians and Jews (since it's a bi-religious text, I'm pretty sure it's allowed). The Bible states that Solomon described many kinds of birds and animals (as is shown by a good look at the book Song of Solomon), so we can safely say he was (in some right) a zoologist (not to be confused with a taxidermist). King David evidently spent time looking at the stars. So they clearly had, if nothing else, the foundational elements of science: curiosity and the capacity to study the world around them. Also, we know that ancient marine maps have been found to show that mariners from that time period had remarkably accurate knowledge of ocean currents. So the idea that ancient people didn't have advanced knowledge of science is way off. Granted, they may not have known about brain cancer and black holes. They didn't have telescopes or star maps. But then, if people were dumb before those things came along, how do they exist now?

I don't really believe in that stuff. MY thoughts exactly. The bible isn't all knowing, it's a collection of fictional books seperated into two parts, Old and New testement. The first half of which has some really great stories and tales (I'm an athiest, for crying out loud and even I enjoyed them. Half of the films and novels we have today draw inspiration from it.), while the second half is preachy nonsense that has been written and re-written so many times that's it's original intent has been completely lost, that second half has really fractured the world. But that's not the point... Just because the dictionary doesn't say there is life on other planets doesn't mean there isn't anything out there, the same applies to the bible. Who's knows for certain? Nobody, certainly not the many thousands who contributed to the most widely known book in history.

Well, if they were smarter than us, they would have already found us, and if they weren't, we'd have to find them.
Meh, I have no real opinion XD

Technically we're discussing only the Old Testament, or Torah, which is a bi- religious text and therefre allowed. Moreover, we are chiefly discussing the question of historical accuracy, not doctrine. The bold and underlined word is the key... With all due respect, may I direct your attention to the words in red? If it leads to a fight, I'll stop. But my experience on fanfiction.net leads me to conclude that religion can be discussed in a civil manner. So even if we were discussing it on a religious basis as opposed to a historical one, that would hardly guarantee a fight.

I believe that there is no such thing as aliens but there is other planets with PEOPLE just like us. They aren't little green men with UFOs or Advanced Tech, but they're modern people.
