Doctors rushed two and fro. And three colligues headed into the room Katie had been put in. Stupidly they left the door open a creak, enough for say...I dunno, a paw to fit through? Katie yelped softly at the freezing hands agaisnt her already-rather seemingly-freezing body. Their hands probed her mouth, pawpads, even her throat! Eyes watered up at the freezing temperature she was at. She called out "Kodi!" she was shivering by now, completely consumed in fever. Then, she started coughing. Odd thing for a "dog" to do huh? Well it rather looked like she was throwing up except without the major ingredient. Lurching forward and a small "Hucff hucff" sound coming from her, or at least it's what the three humans heard. So, being minors in the hospital already they scuttled off to find some doctor or nurse not busy. Again, stupidly leaving the door open.

And an eerie and frightened sounding voice quivered through the air:

"K-Kodi?? Kodi where...where are you??"

Lena walked through the door of the ward, gentle paws padding against the cold wood floor. Her head going back and forth "Dad? Grandpa? Mama?" she called for any of her family that might have been there. Ears pinned back when she saw Balto, and went up to him. Giving him a gentle nuzzle out of respect and a nervous little smile plastered to her pretty face. Her sweet voice sounded out warily to her Father.

"How's Mama?" she asked.

OOC: Uh Whisper, Katie is Tai's Mother. And, Lena Cachen Tai Kai Balto and Kodi(Including Jenna) don't get the illness. This way the plot sets in better.

OOC: It's fine just let's pretend it never happened or you can edit the post.

Kodi's ears pricked directly foreward when he heard the sweet, beautiful angel voice ringing hrough his ears... calling him. At first, he thought it was just in his head... but he could really hear Katie calling him! He watched teh doctors carrying her to and fro, the doctors leaving the door every time. He was so desperate to pop in and see Katie... just to be able to hold and feel her.. and know she was okay.. and she was much better. He was trembling with anxiety, making a high whining noise, his eyes wide with desperation. Not being able to stay there any linger, the young wolfdog hopped off the seats and poked his head cautiously through the door of the ward, watching the doctors operate and perform heavy surgery on his poor, poor lover. He was afraid of getting kicked out, so he lay down and made big puppy eyes, whining quietely, waiting impatiently

Katie yelped softly, their colds hands wanderign all over her body she shook. Looking at Kodi briefly; she din't look so good. Her furry face was a pasty white, tears streaming down her face. She cried out as one docotr put a stethoscope to her chest. SHe 'coughed' once more, laying her head down.

The doctor nodded, sighing "I'm not sure how many cases of this I've had; diptheria for dogs, huh..." he sighed, walking out of the room and leving the door open. Katie cvalling for Kodi weakly.

Katie shivered as the doctor's cold hands left her body. She whimpered, curled up against te hard steel table. Feeling a cold nose nudge thorugh her coat she turned her head slowly, giving a smile. Her weak turquoise eyes looked up. She raised a paw, playfully nudging his rusty red cheek. Katie chuckled, her other paw resting atop his. "Oh, Kodi," she whispered, crawling closer ot nuzzle her face into his light cream chest. He was warm, that's all she knew.

Katie smiled, stopping her shivers as her love wrapped his rusy red and white body around her own. She closed her eyes "Kodi..." she whispered, nuzzlign into him "Say, where are all our children? I thought the best place right now would be here." she laughed lightly, leaning her head on her leg to give a gentle cough "Heh," she chuckled. Though seriously wodnering wehre her pups were.

Meanwhile just outside the hall a doctor consulted with a man about his own dog "It's odd, seems the disease only affects purebreeds of canine. Including wolves. Hybrids of any kind are immuned in some way which is odd." the doctor tossed a bottle of aspirin in the air, sighing "But I'm afraid there's no antidote for any of the poor creatures here. It's in Jeaneu."(Yes Kodi can hear this)

Katie smiled weakly, looking at her littl Tai. A happy memory of her and har daughters filled her senes for a moment, before it all dissapated. Looking down at the yearling pup she rubbed a paw across her daughter's rusty red bakc "Shh baby shhh...Mom's gonna be okay. I'm just thankful none of my little ones," she looked up at Kodi "Or you, have it." she gave Tai's head a gentle lick "Tai sweetie, do you remeber when I told you why I named you Tai?" she giggled. Such happy times with her family. But the inner grief that she may die killed her all the more.

I don't wanna die. I can't leave my babies or Kodi...Please let me live.

Lena tohugh stayed outside to the door, too terrified once in her life to go in.

Balto sighed heavily once Kodi and his pups had rushed inside. He wanted to go inside, but knew that his son deserved some private time with his family. If only there was something I could do... With the Diptheria Incident I went to get the medicine... With the bush plane I lead the team... What can I do now? he asked himself in thought, shaking his head dejectedly. As he was troubled by the worry of what to do, he noticed one of Kodi and Katie's pups, his grandchildren, sitting outside the door. It was Lena. He slowly padded over to Lena and gave her a warm smile. "Lena, sweetheart, don't you want to go inside and see your Mom?" he asked softly, "Come on, I'll go with you if you want me to..."
