I still find it very different from the previous Pixar films, and really nothing to do with the "thing" that is Finding Nemo (I think I will never understand why THAT film got success...)
I don't care much about the reviews from other people, especially after seeing the films. I make my OWN opinion, and I'm glad to have done so or I wouldn't even have seen it. Not to the same extent of course but the same as for Balto.

Yeah, really. What happened to all the amazing and interesting goodies Pixar movies always have? =/

I really like Ratatouille. I think it's very sweet and as soon as it comes out in Britain, I'm getting it. However, I think Meet the Robinsons is a tiny bit better, even though it's not Pixar.

I saw Ratatouille and I loved it. I think it's one of Pixar's best, and yet on the UltimateDisney site - it's given a lackluster review. Apparently, it wasn't 'epic' enough because it wasn't set in a surreal world or in a wild place. Whatever. I think it's much better than Finding Nemo.

That's why I don't go to Ultimatedisney.com anymore. I used to like UD, but since they chose a dumb reviewer for a Pixar masterpiece, I'm pretty much boycotting this website's movie reviews.

Cars is better than this movie.

Wow, now that's a critic. And very objective, too.

Seriously, this is spam. Explain yourself, please, as I don't call this an opinion.
I'm saying this to you, but most people do the same thing : they don't argument their opinions.

If you're interested, this is my review from Keyframe (I'm known as wildanimals). This pretty much sums up my feelings on the film. I give it 3.5 out of 4.

Quote:
Rats, face it, are not the most popular creature on Earth, even if they are one the most numerous. Look at the vile creature that sneaks into the baby's room in Lady and the Tramp and you'll get a good idea of Man's perception on these little creatures.

But Pixar transforms these 'vile little beasties' into something completely adorable and lovable. And so, we get Remy.
Remy's dream is to become a chef and eat real food instead of the rubbish that rats usually feast upon. After being seperated from his family in an 'American Tail'-esque way, he goes on a crazy ride through the sewers (in the style of 'Fievel goes West') and ends up under Paris.
Meanwhile, a young man named Linguinie, on the wishes of his dead mother, is given a job at the three (formely five) star restaurant Gusteau's. When the two finally meet after a near-miss with some soup, the talent-less Linguinie realises his cooking potential in the little animal...

Sure, it might seem a bit far fetched with the whole 'rat knows how to cook' theme, but Ratatouille is just such a funny, sweet and charming film that you'll forget all about it. It's touching without getting too overly sentimental and it's funny without becoming too juvenile and forced (that one too often sees in todays numerous CGI flicks).
The food in the film looks very delicious. It doesn't look like plastic at all. I know this is going to sound weird, but even the cake in the rubbish heap looked tasty. Ratatouille will not only evoke emotions, it''ll evoke your stomach too! The rendering and imagery is just fantastic.

The plot is fun and more importantly, unpredictable - which was a real problem in Pixar's previous films. The characters are memorable too.
If I had to sum up Ratatouille in one word, it would be 'sweet.' Linguinie's somewhat odd friendship with Remy is sweet, all of the rats look sweet, just the entire film is sweet and funny. Go see Ratatouille - it's a delightful offering in today's animated wasteland.

Are you sure you're not talking about Dreamworks? I don't remember Bug's Life, Toy Story, Incredibles, or Nemo being focused excessively on stupid jokes instead of their stories...

I agree. Pixar is one of the last things I think of when the words 'stupid jokes' come to mind. Sure, some of Pixar's films do have their silly moments, but they take themselves more seriously than any other CGI flicks. A lot of Pixar's films have a well thought out story, just like Ratatouille.
