They're a waste of space when they get left laying around BaltoSource and no one ever posts in them. Personally, I think I've made quite a few good rps. (if you want, I need more members for my rp One Too Many Memories . . . in the Other rping section.)
Thanks for your input! I'll have a look at yours... thanks again.

OK, thanks for your ideas! I'm not complaining that RPrs need to suddenly become great overnight... I just think they ought to improve, and keep getting better... like a learning experience. So, they start at step 1, and eventually get to step four.

I'm not going to rate my own ability to rp; that's something I let those who roleplay with me do for themselves. However, I do understand where you're coming from about all of the more random rps which in the end have no point or just carry on simply because the players in it can't see how boring it's gotten. And I understand how frustrating it is to find roleplayers of high caliber who have a sense of creativity and imagination that let them rp well. I've been dealing with this issue for a couple of years, but there's not fixed solution that I've been able to come up with so far that hasn't eventually crumbled due to the magnitude of all of the ones who'd rather play in the weaker rps. This can't be helped. But even so, Darkwolf and I try to encourage most to try and set higher standards for themselves, to improve themselves. Any suggestions you have for the continuing struggle would be greatly appreciated by the both of us.

People have fun differently, isn't that what RPing is about? But, yeah, it is annoying, so, I have to agree with you. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still looking for a good plot, eh... It'll come sooner or later (Hopefully sooner)

I would have to say, spelling does not necessarily mean you are a horrid roleplayer. We all make a few spelling mistakes, that's what the spell checker is for. ;D But I would have to say, I'm a quite the 'Advanced Roleplayer'. At the peak of my roleplaying I was joining groups thats required you to basically audition to get the character. Whoever had the best writing, got the part. (If you wanted a character that was already created) But your own character, involved also a basic write up to give an example of your skill level. As for roleplaying on the forums I would probably suggest this. That way, you know what type of roleplayer you are getting and weather they are advanced, intermediate or a beginner.
As for the roleplaying box on the main section of the site. Their isn't much you can do. But I would suggest maybe we should cut the absolutely pointless roleplaying such a...
Example:
Roleplayer 1: *Grabs Roleplayer 2* -Laughing-
Roleplayer 2: *Is grabbed* -struggles-
OR
Roleplayer 1: -Is Chuck Norris-
Roleplayer 2: *Attacks Chuck Norris and kills him*
This is ridiculous ! That is not roleplaying, thats messing around, take it to the PM's! Also the constant off-topic chatting needs to stop and if your going to be off topic. Please at least put them in between bars.
Example:
Roleplayer 1 : (Hey, do you guys mind if I join in?)
Roleplayer 2: Replying to someone's post in this area ( Sure!)
Also when roleplaying it is very nice to see some paragraphs, especially if the person you are roleplaying with is making an effort to post. I am very sure they would appreciate more then one or two sentences in return. Also, punctuation, proper spelling, creativeness, staying on topic, no god-moding the rp, etc. etc.
I'll give an example of how I roleplay, this particular post was done about a year ago. I have since improved, but I felt this was a nice example. The group was a Van Helsing RPG, hence the topic.
Example:
Dusk had come and the wind swirled about the village with a merciless howl and the rain drizzled down in the cold Transylvanian night. She was to keep watch this evening, she trotted back and fourth on the back of a massive black stallion watching over the village. It was a heartless place, this village...cursed with the most monstrous and fearful of things. Vampires, werewolves, you name it they had it. She fingered the handle of her sword, thinking about the past and how things had come to be. Thunder cracked and in the distance a shadowy figure loomed. She gasped and tightened the reigns, glancing into the darkness as a pair of yellow eyes darted about at the far end of the village. And as the moonlight shifted she saw it clearly...a werewolf. Swiftly she hoped off the horse and tied it to a fence post and pulled out her gun, she stayed focused and alert as she approached in the darkness. She had to get a clear shot at the beast if she didn't all hell would surely break lose. "Come on," She whispered in between gritted teeth silently to herself. The beast whirled around as she took one last step and she fired. The beast lunged and it nicked the werewolf. Anna gasped, "No!" She cursed herself for having missed and fired again, the werewolf jumped on the side of the room as she fired another shot and it launched itself at her and she ducked rolling to the side as it crashed through a barn. She scrambled up and whirled around aiming the gun as the creature flew up with a roar and she fired her last shot and it nailed the beast of burden in the heart. The werewolf screeched a horrible cry and it fell over dead. She fell to the ground as the rain poured down now she closed her eyes and let the cool rain run down her face. This was getting tiring and fast, years of this. She opened her eyes and reality came back to her, this was her life. Anna got up, and strode over to the horse and untied it. "Come now," She hushed the horse as it was whinnying nervously. She walked toward the house and hoped Velkan was there, she looked on as the dawn was nearly rising. Tomorrow would be along day and the night even longer for the un-dead walk the evening hours and she was surprised she had no encountered any of the brides recently. Though long absences were never good, werewolves were quite different then vampires. They were much easier to kill... Anna was lucky, if she hadn't fired that last shot and hit she would be dead...or far worse...a werewolf herself.
There is so much more to be said on this subject, but for now I'll leave it at that.
As for my vote, I did not learn much from this topic. Their should be guidelines, structures, examples etc. etc. This is really just a topic about opinion of the roleplaying rather then a help topic.

I used to RP seriously quite alot, now I mostly do it cause I have nothing better to occupy my time with. Most of those websites are long gone now, there're a couple out there, I'm sure that still float. I just got bored of it (and still kinda am bored with it...)
Oh well. I cast my vote about this thread as well.

This is a great example... would you mind if I posted it in the main thread post (the beginning one, mine)? I'd give you credit before and after. DrewTheWolf {AB} wrote: As for my vote, I did not learn much from this topic. I didn't know of what else to add at the time, but I see how you are right... that's where my aforementioned question comes in. Shadow in the Storm wrote: As for chracters it get's very tiresome to have a chracter that was trown together in less then 2 seconds. You can tell when this happens, really it's quite obvious. I beilive that if your going to join and RP make it worth our time and make it intersting insted of having some blue haired dog with familly issues or something like that. There's one thing I was trying to get at... nice point, well made! Shadow in the Storm wrote: Plots really have seemed to go down hill also. Most of then things you see now consist of something with parents being dead and the dumb chracter is off to get revenge, or saving some random brother or sister from sure death. T.T I mean I would even accept a love RP ove this but then again even the love RP's end up being something that you could get from a 5 year olds fairy tale. Again - exactly what I am seeing. But if that's the way "this generation" is heading -- and I sadly must say that it is -- then that's fine! Especially if you really are someone who wants to create an RP, and don't want to participate with the ones already made - that, to me, makes sense. Shadow in the Storm wrote: ...Let me tell you one thing, spell check works wonders. I agree 100%! warriorcat*ndog wrote: Not to be rude, i just dislike this rant so much. What ever happened to FUN? SOME people like to have FUN when they rp. not everyone is serious or good enough to take it to the next level Yeah, that's perfectly fine, isn't it? Sure, if 98.99 of this site like the same thing, and they all want to make their own RP with their own characters, so be it - I don't care. What I'm getting at is, for the most part: If you want to do something different, and you are not really interested in that kind of "stuff," then get more out there -- do something different, for a change! When was the last time you were in an RP that was really out there - it was new, and so much fun and different it was an entirely new experience? I say "never," my own RP isn't so great and way-out-there, but I know that people can do it. They just have to put their minds into action, and be up to the work.

Yes, I got quite a bit out of it, but some I already realized/followed with, etc as my vote. I understand this topic perfectly and in the same way i see roleplays as Kodiwolf-BF-RMW is seeing them and i totaly agree with you kodi. The problem is many(Not all poeple) will look at the title of the RP topic then see Adavnce RP on the end of it then just ignore that topic completely without even looking at the plot lines nor even opening the topic to give it a go. I will be honest i was the same until a friend got me to try out one of these good RPs enjoyed it. I just have to say to some out there that just ignore topics with the words advance RP on the end of it to give those RP's a try. There is no harm in try out something new every once in a while. If you want to give one a try here give my RP a try. Don't be put off by the big posts just have a go and i am sure you will enjoy it, if not then well it dosen't matter. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15651&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Well, that's understandable, Claymore. The spelling mistakes you speak of - especially being non-English -- those are fine, I'm not saying that "bad RPrs" are the ones who spell bad or don't know proper English... they can't help that, as I'm sure you already know. Claymore wrote: And I saw numbers of RPs which were called RPs just because of the title or the plot no matter how lame. One liners, one sentence posts and so on. That is what I was getting at - RPs that are like that, are the ones that could use some help.

I used to roleplay here. The last rp I was in was with Pirkka_Fin named Quiet Wind where everyone had eventually dropped out with only 2 rpers left. Ended up as "sticky" labeled as "a very good example of quality roleplay". I had to leave for a while and when I got back it was gone after a while. I thought that was very unjust... It was actually interesting and I liked roleplaying in it, I hadn't roleplayed on this site for ages.
True, many people should put more work into what they post, to make it look less like "a chat on whims." Every roleplay becomes what the rpers make it, and if people don't put much thought into what they post the other roleplayers are disappointed or loose interest.
Your example is good, but there have been many. Really depends on the people and how strict the "minimum" or "maximum" rules are.
