After seeing some parts of Wolf rain and these concept arts of Wolf, I would say that the style of Wolf is right in between of Wolf Rain and Balto.

I am looking foward to Wolf, but I have a feeling that it will have a lot of tragic parts. The animation style is cool, and it's really good that you think it's different from Balto, because if it ends up too similar, lawsuits will come flying, and we don't want that.

If anyone hasnt recently visited their site they have some production art posted up so you can see what the final design for the characters will be. So far only three character designs are up, so click here to view.

Well I hope you can wait 2-? years for it to be released on DVD. I've heard it might be a DTV release, but Im not totally positive of that.

Yes, it will most likely just be released direct to DVD, and, at least right now, it'll only be available through the website and online stores. But things may changed between now and the time the film is finished.

When i first heard about the project about a year back.. I just thought: Yeah right! Aint gonna happend. But after i saw the trailer & a few animation / storyboard snipout i think its gonna happend. 
To the people involved in the project:
Dont give up hope. I think this is gonna rock alot of fans.
