I didn't read everything, but to the ones who say that they do this to get attention, well you need to be careful. Because this may not always be true, and the worst thing to do is keep everything to yourself. When you have trouble, you should always talk to someone else.

Point taken, Doby. I'm sure (or I at least hope) that people are aware that not everyone who does this stuff does it just for attention. True enough, people do, but not all of them. I commend you, Doby, for opening up like that. Not many people can do that on a place as public as the internet.

Doby did raise a good point, but here is the problem that I sometimes face in deciding if people are for real about this stuff or not: this is the internet. I mean, I'm not discounting Doby for what she said, because I can usually tell if things are legitimate claims by the style of writing, (Doby's being one of them), but other times, when it's not so obvious... you know... people can make up that stuff on the internet. Anyone could say that they take anti-depressants, and anyone could say that they are diagnosed with depression. We could go to meet these people in person to see if that is legitimate, but that's 99.999% of the time impossible.

Just putting that out there... if it was un-called for or offending or something, I am sorry. Just stating what I know.

Ugh...I just witnessed a VERY dramatic "I'm gunna run away!!!11" scene in the Rplay box...At first I attempted to help but, in the end...the member came back, they changed their mind. That ticked me off majorily because when a runaway says they are going to leave, they will. I did it once, went for two days to clear my mind and came back. Didn't care who said no...Someone who is serious WILL leave at least for one day...God please STOP the dramatics people!

Take it to the PMs

Seriously. PEOPLE you ARE NOT better off dead. I had a speaker come to my school who is paralyzed from the neck down and chose to never give up! He got paralyzed in a surfing accident a day before his 18th birthday but he still loves his life. Sure,he ALMOST gave up but he didn't. As he says "I'm paralyzed from the neck down.Whats your excuse?" I agree with him. Do not let your families illness or your own illness become you. Just because you have a disease DOES NOT MEAN you cannot be happy. Think about this, really think T___T life isn't terrible and you only ge tone shot at it.So for all you whiners, complainers, emos, suicidals, etc. THINK ABOUT THIS NEXT TIME YOU COMMENT ON THE FORUMS OR SHOUTBOX.

man, these kinds of topics are just what internet bullies need for ammunition

I had a friend on another forum (who shall remain nameless), and he was thinking of suicide. So we confide to him and thankfully, he changed his mind and is okay now.

But that's beside the point.

I logged on one day and found a topic with a link. (the rest of the text isn't important).

I clicked the link, and it brought me to yet another forum where the members were criticising my friend for his note, calling him a P-word, and making emo jokes.

You see, suicide notes just cause you more pain. In fact, suicide causes you more pain; or at least pain for your family. If you want to tell your friends, use a PM. Not only will it make the message more personal, but it will also protect you against the ten-year old n00blets who think it's funny to mock you because they think (if they're brain is actually on) that you're an emo and such.

and if you're one of those n00blets, do us a favour and send your friends a suicide note, then kill yourself.

I think we have to be careful wirh this one... if someone is genuinely contemplating suicide then I think that it is our duty to try to disuade them... now I know some only do it for attention, but some don't. Someone might come to BS to talk about things like that because it's completely anonymous. No one is going to know who they really are, you know? I personally have been down this road, and when things get that bleak, even a single kind word can shed light in the darkness... so don't encourage it or call them a coward or anything like that... just be kind to them. Don't mention suicide directly... just find something good about that person to bring up to them. I know that some of these people are looking for attention, and this will give it to them, but... if they are serious, the consequences are so much worse... if BS is the only recourse they have then let's not close that door.

btw: If any of you knows anyone who is serious about it (or who you think may be) then please get them to contact me. As someone who has been there before I may be able to help and would be glad to.
