Quote: Next time, guys, just report it to one of us fanart mods. I especially will not have a problem removing it
And that's what we're looking for, a support And nothing really to add XD I always PM first the people who steal art and the artists to keep an eye on these people. I look at these people from different point of view. Now as each member of BS has his own account, it helps. If you look at the points he/she has, you can estimate how long the person is a member (of course that's not always the case, someone can watch everything from the outside and then when he/she knows everything, create an account). Mostly, I find that the people with less points (new people) have no idea what copyrights are and have no idea that tracing a picture and posting it, is an art theft. (When someone copied my picture:) Then, as I said, (calmly) explain what it is through PM, and wait and see. (Once I scared someone with my comment though I didn't use exclamation marks, and any scary words XD But he/she listened and did include the copyrights). If someone copies not me, but other artist, I send a comment to them AND to the artist who has been copied. If someone copied an artist who is no longer on the site, I PM mods (even if I'm not sure who copied whom, I leave this to mods ;D) Well, that's really it, and I'm not sure what else you can do, don't post your best art in here.
(Nothing really to add? -_-)

No, they aren't so close to me...Of course I doubt the likeliness is a coincidence, but at least it's not "traced or stolen". It's more "inspired from".
If you really consider that as stealing, then this could go very far, because you could find a lot of drawings like this on the site that looks very close to this, and not all would be a copy from someone else.
What I mean is : the mods shouldn't base their opinion on just ONE drawing, but on the sender of the drawings. If this happens too often, then you know that the sender isn't someone trustful.

Cat makes perfect sense with what she said about copyrighting.
You make a picture with all the effort in your body and someone just comes along, rips the idea from you and doesn't give credit at all.
And yes, no one here drew emo wolves until Livvy started. And it's quite sad really that, that one type of wolf is used everywhere.
D: That's why i made Sako different and this person totally ripped sako's design from me. And that's why I'm upset.
Note:
The sock things
the front leggings
the hair tuft
the ears
even the copyright.
I mean come on. Shamrock the fox -vs- SakoTheFox
too close for comfort if you name your charater EXACTLY the same way

If you people are that worked up about your characters being stolen, then why don't you just copyright the dang things?
Here are the US copyright forms.
http://www.copyright.gov/forms/
For the low, low price of 35 bucks, you can officially copyright any character that you have come up with and sue the pants off of anyone who infringes on it. This can also apply to any fanfiction you've written, provided it doesn't have any Balto characters in it. There, now we're all happy. You're happy, 'cause your "emo" wolf isn't being "stolen" and I'm happy 'cause I don't have to wade through any more topics where someone says, "Boo hoo, that wolf looks vaguely like my wolf! I feel insulted!"

if it will make you feel any better, your character looks really cool.
it sucks that there are some individuals who have not a single thread of dignity and creativity in their bodies. The only was they can even hope to gain attention is to copy. Pathetic.

I don't get it...when I'm nice to people, most folks just ignore me completely. When I'm trying to be biting and sarcastic, people thank me. In the words of the Wicked Witch of the West, "Oh, what a world, what a world". For what it's worth, I'm glad I could help you out Draco, let me know how that copyrighting comes out. It will be interesting to see someone actually copyright their character.

I really want to copyright Achak the most. He's been stolen before and it just angers me. Cat always tells me about people trying to copy him. No creativity...i swear... I might do my other characters I don't know yet.

I can point out at least one problem with this. People won't go around flashing the paperwork on the internet, for the personal information thing... Also, do you know how many people will go around "I have a paid government copyright for that!" when in fact they don't?
Also: not everyone can afford a government copyright (I know, $35 isn't a lot, right? WRONG). I know I can't. Why? My mother got laid of and my stepfather is a lazy... We won't go there. My point is, not everyone can go on and easily afford a copyright (if I understand right, you have to buy an individual copyright for just one individual character/work).
But Livz, we really don't want you to leave (never! >| ) and as you can tell, no one does. I'm glad you're staying!

Well, Kirada, I don't know what you want me to say. If you can't afford 35 bucks, you're even more hard up than most. All I can suggest is, get a job. Deliver newspapers, mow some lawns for your neighbors, sell some cocaine, whatever you want. I don't know what you want me to tell you.
The point of a copyright is not to tell people that you have one and then everything is all better, the point of a copyright is for you to sue someone who's infringing on it and having a leg to stand on in a court of law. Now, the legality of you (a person who isn't making squat off of your character) suing someone else (who isn't making squat off your character) isn't something I want to get into right now. Suffice it to say, I'm sure you could sue and hey, I bet you could even roll court costs into the settlement so that it won't cost you one red cent.
If you're really, super-duper serious about protecting what is yours, get in touch with a lawyer. They're in the yellow pages and a call is always free. If this seems like too much work for you, then you must not care that much. Yes, I know it's easy and fun to complain, but hey, if you're posting your artwork, for free, on a public site, on the internet, for any person to see, then expect to get some copycats. That comes with the territory. You don't think Van Gogh or Carravaggio had their copiers? It happens. Take some corrective action to stop it, or else you're just going to have to get over it.
