Do you mean clans that people used to live in? Like the Macloeds for example, during the time of the Jacobites. When faimlys all had the same second name and live together? That was yonks ago, people don't live like that anymore. Though, there are a lot of one name in the same area very often

Well, Scots don't really belong to clans anymore, but I guess you could say all people from the same name as you are some what related because your descendants (or however you spell that) are from the same clan.
