Hey guys, I agree that they shouldn't be "mates" on the Shout Box, but as far as saying that they love each other? What kind of world are we in where love is annoying? Love isn't annoying, it's esssential. ...and I used to be in the crowd of people that said that "true love" wasn't possible over the Internet (IM's and Shout Box's for example) but something happened not long ago that changed my mind... I fell in love with someone whom I've only talked to on Yahoo Instant Messager, and I fell hard, as in "would consider meeting each other with marriage in mind" hard... it is possible. While I do agree that they shouldn't be "role-playing" their relationship on the shout box (that's not what it's for) we should NOT restrict them from saying they love each other... what's next? We gonna start speaking German, posting swastica's and waging war on everyone else that doesn't feel the same way about everything that we do? (No offense to any German's out there, I myself trace my family line to Germany) No, I think they should be allowed to say "I love you" or whatever else they want to each other, as long as it's fit for polite conversation and is G rated. Otherwise I have to say we're being too oppresive... I know this isn't the general consenus of this thread, but it's how I feel, and I was raised to tell the truth...
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

In theory, yes...
If it was a meeting site, of course...
But this is a site for everyone including children, and 9 years old saying sexual things on a chat is not something we should see here.
Of course we wouldn't mind things like "I love you" (as long as they don't repeat this every minute), but it was much worse than that. And when we make a rule, it's either everything or nothing.
Finally, I think that such things should be kept by private messages, because well, this is private. And chats are not made for private conversations.

Well, doesn't it just make you want to slam your head into a wall when you see two people on the shout box or the RP box talk all "lovey dovey" like they just came out of the Tuck Everlasting film?
Ok, sure, at first it was all "Aww! How cute! They love each other!" But then they started having public displays of affection (PDA) by calling each other "uberly cute" petnames (no pun intended) and having extreme, yet discreet "mate-tastic" roleplays? And they'd do it EVERY TIME they were on simultaneously?
At that point one would think they'd take it to a private message, right? Cuz thats what PMs are for, right? If you want to have a PRIVATE conversation with someone, send them a PRIVATE message?
TELL ME that me and a handful of other people (you know who you are) are not the only ones who really really really dislike this.

Arghhh! I totally agree with you!!! That's like telling everyone else on the board where to stick it! That pisses the cr*p out of me. Excuse my french, sorry But that's how I feel about it, it's just rude, because it like excludes everyone else out of the conversation.

I really do agree. Now if they add "Love" on the end of a sentence every so often, I won't mind that.
But, I've never seen this happen... And am kinda glad I haven't (though I'm sure I will someday). I didn't know there was a mate box... Geez, good thing that it IS gone, otherwise it could spark "You cheated on me!" And start that flame war crap. x_o
And no, you will not get any flamers from me. I repect you, your ethics and so on, so, no reason for flames.
Let alone it's not worth the trouble to PM someone flaming them, because you would know what would happen afterwards and yadda yadda.
But, I do agree. It's sick.

Well, I agree about the sexual things, this site is most definitely NOT the place for that. (They are out there if you look, though I won't link any here). Oh, and um... the girl I'm talking to knows I love her... I tell her at least 20 times a day probably . ...but I want everyone to know, that's why I'd talk on a shoutbox (if I ever did)
Oh btw...
Her name is Connie, and I LOVE HER!

P.S. for those of you looking for my next ff I'm still working on it. I know it's been a while, but I think it's going to be worth it

I wasn't here for the mate box and I'm GLAD I wasn't...
You know what else I hate? When two people "fight" over a mate on the RP box! It's so stupid, 'cause the guy's not even THERE for REAL!

basically, lie.
Yeah, I never tell anyone where I live, my Email, or anything...
If I told someone even my NAME I'd freak out, like, "Oh my gosh, that person KNOWS me now!!!!He's out to get me!!!"

I am so on your side with this one Cat, I HATE it, I've only noticed it once and I could've gone mad, it's pathetic and childish and downright weird....

If this is your stance, how come only days ago you were into the same thing yourself? >_>
