Carter County, Kentucky is a nightmare for animal-lovers. Two men came up with two cruel ways to teach a dog not to chase vehicles, both of them involve shoking the animal by means of a rope, either held by you or attached to a vehicle, I haven't seen them in action, but they sound cruel. I would rather use the shock or choke collar anyday.

Oh my! Where did it take place? Carter County, Kentucky? Well I'll let you wander off the topic a little, as long as it has to do with animal punishment, it's fine with me.

Hey I still remember last year seeing the GSD on the bedless puck up truck with a rope around it's neck. And there was a cop that didnt do anything.

I never tried a shock collar for my dog but I was thinking about it, I asked the people at the pet store and they said that if I were to get one I would have to press the button (That shocks them) at the exact same time she barks, so I decided not to. But when she was still in training I used a pinch (Choke) collar on her and it works great. I still use it sometimes because she is very strong and likes to chase cats.

Yes, that's the problem with shock collars. There are so many sick minded people out there who will use them to hurt dogs.
Aleuwolf, my dog is well-trained but even a trained dog can get spooked. If Archie heard a firework when out on walks he would go wild and run. He'd do anything to get home, even if it means running across a road. If I had to choose, then I'd prefer to use a shock collar on him then watch him get hit by a car.
Choke chains are training devices. As said, to be used by experienced handlers and trainers only.
As for physically kicking or hitting a dog with your hand or foot - no one should ever do that. Dogs don't respond to it. They just fear you. The worst I've done to Archie is grabbed his muzzle, but not hard and looked into his eyes before telling him off. There was a real reason for this, which I won't mention to avoid conflict.
