Anyone who says that wolves kill for fun are just believing what other movies say. As said by the person who created this topic;

"Wolves are not as they seem in the movies."

Wolves are just as dangerous as any other wild animal. They do not kill for fun - they are probably less barbaric than we humans! They kill to survive. They should not be killed for trying to survive. It is a known fact that wolves are decreasing in population.

I'm perfectly fine in fighting for what is right. Any wolf-haters shouldn't be allowed on the forum.. ok, maybe that's a little over the top but honestly, if you like Balto then you can't excactly say you hate wolves. Dogs are related to Wolves!

To clear things up...

Quoted from Starsky: Anyone who says that wolves kill for fun are just believing what other movies say.

Yeeeeeaaaaaah, I am not believing what the movies say, I am believing what the real people who have dealt with this say.

Quoted from Starsky: It is a known fact that wolves are decreasing in population.

FACT: A rancher that I talked to said that wolves are increasing in Montana, New Mexico, and Colorado. I think probably more states too. They should decrease to a point in my opinion, but I don't want them to go completely instinct.

Quoted from Starsky: I'm perfectly fine in fighting for what is right. Any wolf-haters shouldn't be allowed on the forum..

Ok, I didn't say I hated wolves...I like them to a point...primarily for their looks.

The ranchers up here in Montana know for a FACT that wolves kill for fun. They go from one sheep to another ripping out their necks WITHOUT eating them. Now that sounds like killing for fun, don't you think? Thinking otherwise is ignorance. They also hamstring animals so they can't run away...to kill them... and maybe not even eat the animal! They do not kill for survival. They EAT for survival. I know they need food, so they can go kill a deer...but then they eat it. Not eating something they kill is killing for fun.

(Just in case you don't know what hamstringing is, they cut cords in the back of a horse's or some other animal's legs so they can't get away.)

Yeah right. They SHOULD decrease so there aren't as many. I don't want them to go completely instinct though. They ARE pretty animals.

But, what proof do you have of this? If you read my "The Wolf" Topic, then you'll know that I don't think of wolves as mr. or miss cuddles .. But really, what proof is this? Words is words. But, can you show some real proof? I am not saying their great pets, because their not. I am not saying their great cuddles, because their not. Their wild animals, but really, what proof do you really have?

I've read many wolf sites, and none of them have said such thing as you. There is people who dealt with wolves, and are very careful - Yet I believe they said no such thing. But, they KNEW what they were doing - And I am sure a person who doesn't know what their doing are risking their life. But, let's not get too much off topic.

"Yeah right. They SHOULD decrease so there aren't as many. I don't want them to go completely instinct though. They ARE pretty animals."

They are pretty animals? Okay, so - Let's say a ugly animal shouldn't live because of it's looks? They can feel, see, and are living things. Yes, their very pretty animals - But, they shouldn't only live for just that reason .. I mean, Look, I am not trying to be mean - But WHERE did you get this info? WHAT proof do you have?

Research the breed, and listen to the people who did deal with wolves. I've never dealt with wolves, or hybirds. Because, I DON'T know what I am doing and I really truly don't want too. It's not my dream, or goal, but again - let's not get off topic. You don't have to listen to me, because I am just a person who never dealt with a wolf or hybird - But, I've read wolf sites with info. Heck, I have my own wolf site with a bit info here and there.

Now, I mean - Have you dealt with wolves before? Do you know someone(Family, Best Friend, Trustworthy Friend ect) that has dealt with wolves before? Did they say such a thing? (Mind you, I haven't read the whole topic.) But really, Wolves killing for fun? I never heared of such thing - until now.

I been on a dog site, and had some wolf topic. They never said something as odd as this, and I am sure some of them dealt with these wolves before - Or works in a zoo or so. All I can say is - Do you have any proof?
Thanks.

Yeah, you know what? A rancher is NEITHER a wolf biologist NOR into keeping track of wolf populations and their movements. NOR are they trained in understanding predatory behavior. Anyone who would take the word of ranchers, who want wolves TOTALLY eliminated from the U.S. and Canada, is off their rocker.

Now...time for a little lesson here: predators OFTEN bite to injure prey first...then allow it to bleed some before moving in to kill. It is quite common, and it NOT "for fun". It makes the kill easier, and causes less damage to the predator. It is a perfectly sound, healthy and INSTINCTUAL hunting tactic. The only exceptions to this are when the predators SO outweigh their prey (such as lions), that they can simply pounce on them and grab hold of their throats, suffocating them to death.

Get over this delusion, Snowpaws. And stop taking lessons from sheep and cow ranchers for your education on the behavior patterns and hunting tactics of wild predators.

For CRYING OUT LOUD...

Seppala's right. All ranchers are opposed to wolves anyway. To ranchers, they just want wolves out, and they could care less if what they believe is true or not. Besides, go to this website of a REAL wolf biologist that konws what he's talking about here:

http://www.wolfsongalaska.org/

This guy who owns this site has scientific and historical facts to support what he knows.

It sounds like you are a tree-hugger and animal activist. You've got your head in the sand. You'd change your tune if you were one of the ranchers that were losing their sheep and cattle to these vicious animals.

It sounds like YOU'RE the exact opposite. Besides, is there anything wrong with that? Honestly, money corrupts too much. The livestock, phsaw, those things reproduce like there's no tomorrow... I mean, once you have a male and female animal at the ranch that you bought, you don't really need to buy any more. Just let them reproduce, and if one is killed off, then it's actually saving money, as there's one less cow or sheep or whatever to feed...

All ranchers care about is money, and they need to care about more things than that. Seriously, some people don't realize how helpful predators are to nature. We cannot get rid of nature, because then nothing could survive. Therefore, we must learn to deal with it. Ranchers included.

I am neither. But I also know that ranchers are about as sensible about this topic as "a one legged man in a kicking contest". And anyone who plays into that mindset is just as INsensible.

Some PETA shill or animal rights nut probably would have long since flamed you for this ridiculous topic. And I certainly have had arguments here with animal rights nuts. You know how I'm different? Because I actually quote sources that I can BACK UP. Maybe you should do the same.

I'd much prefer to be a tree-hugger and animal activist than not. I'm glad some people actually care about the enviroment.

I agree with what BaltoSeppala said. Just about everything.

i'm a tree-hugger and proud of it. Wolves deserve respect. I know what you are going to say 'But farmers deserve respect." Yes that's all fine and dandy but, guess what? Right this minute what is more important, cows and sheep or the endangered wolf? I say the wolf. One day you are going to wake up and there won't be any wolves alive any more. I dare say, will you be proud of this article when that happens? I hope not.

Maybe you should check out this site: http://www.wall-of-shame.com/offenders/disgrace1.html

Isn't that horrible? That's why I stand by my thoughts.

From what I saw on a Wolf documentry on UKTV Doc the other day, wolves can't often hunt from farmers since their cattle are so carefully guarded.

I think it's good to care for the environment, but not TOO much like the tree-huggers do. They are going over board about it.
