"Michelle, I have no idea what they have planned. I do know we are a family though, and you're a part of it. We stay together," Sadie said firmly, trying not to make it obviuos she was lying. Rio would see right through it, he had known her for years. But the pups most likely wouldn't.

"Are we ever going to be able to go back home?" Laika asked softly.

Sadie looked gratefully at Rio. "Yeah, it is," she said softly. If only they could go back home that soon.

Sadie followed behind the pups, who were safer in between the two adult wolves.

Juno wished to complain that his paws were already hurting, and after-affect of swimming in the river for alot of the night. But only the nagging thought there might be danger kept his trembling mouth closed.

Laika kept glanced around nervously, yelping as she cracked a twig. She forced herself to calm down, taking deep breaths.

Sadie noticed how many of her pups wre dragging their paws, silently trying to bear through, no matter how hard. "Rio, we need a break," she called.

"Under that willow?" Sadie suggested, gesturing to it with her muzzle.

The small family was soon gathered underneath the swaying branches. Sadie laid down beside the trunk, her pups following her lead. Even her paws were aching.

Laika chose to lay near her father, snuggling agianst him.

Juno, however, burrowed into his mother's side, taking comfort in her presence and familiar scent.

Rio layed down and started to sleep.

Kyle and Michelle Snuggled with Rio and fell asleep very quickly.

Sadie was unable to fall asleep. She curled her body protectively around Juno, her ears pricked and white eyes open. She wasn't going to be taken by surprise any time soon.

It was morning. Rio woke up to see Sadie was still awake.

The pups were still asleep.

"Hey Sadie. Your still awake?" He asked.

"Yeah, I am. I was up all night, actually. It's hard to sleep when our lives are in peril and all." A wry grin crossed her face.
