"Thanks," Kali muttered. It was totally out of character for her to thank anybody, much less a Smokie she was originally supposed to find and capture. But she felt it was necessary right now.

A rather strong scent washed over them, and Kali forced herself not to flinch away from it. Because of her sensitive nose, it was stronger than it should've been. It smelled like...human waste. Her keen eyes picked out a ditch, and she grimaced. This place is so....primitive, she thought.

Once left alone, Kali walked inside. "I have the feeling I'm going to miss indoor plumbing." Sure, she was a Special, and had lived in the wild for weeks on end. But that didn't mean she enjoyed "going" outdoors. She preferred toilets whenever possible.

Zane managed to hide his small chuckle, instead grinning. He probably would too, more so than Kali. But that didn't mean he would say it.

"Neither do I," Kali agreed quickly.

"This is beginning to sound too much like one of your conversations with Loverboy," Kali teased lightly.

Kali punched Shay on the arm companionably, grinning at her friend. "I know," she replied. "I'm not stupid," she added.

"Just a reminder," Kali said. She coughed as a fresh cloud of smoke wafted towards them. "I can't believe their clear-cutting," she mumbled, staring out the small, glass-less window.
