Biddy giggled nervously. "Yeah, but I wish I could. It'd be so much easier than having to always ask for directions."

Victor laughed. "I am out. Can't you see me?" he joked.

Biddy looked away from Asher's glare, an unneccassary feeling of guilt forming in her stomach. It wasn't like she had done anything wrong! She turned to Zane and smiled. "Thanks again," she said.

Victor immediately leapt out of the tree and landed silently behind Shay, doing so in a way that she couldn't see him do it. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.

Biddy shrugged at Asher, turning her eyes to him after wathcing Zane leave. "Just feeling lost and clueless. The same as all day. I guess that's what comes with being the new girl."

Victor laughed, grabbing one of her wrists in his hands has if to retrain her. "I'm the mean one? Who's pushing around who?"

Biddy smiled up at Asher. "I know. Thanks, by the way. For helping me out today."

Emily stood outside of the main entrance, waiting for Asher to come out. Where was that boy? Emily crossed her arms and tapped her foot in annoyance. If he was with that human again, Emily was going to kill him. She was his girlfriend, not that Biddy.

"And now you're laughing at me," Victor teased, letting out a bit of his own laughter. He got closure to Shay and said in a low voice, "You are a cruel one, aren't you?"

Biddy looked at the ground nervously, biting her lip while thinking of something else to say. "I guess we better go," she said, nodding toward the door.

Victor smiled when the flutter of Shay's heart reached his eyes. He was thankful that Shay had only human hearing and could not hear that his heart was not beating at all. But if he had still been alive, his would have been racing a ten miles an hour. His voice was still smooth and calm, though he thought it should be rugged from the way he was feeling. "A guy can dream, can he not? Hope that he mets a girl not as twisted as the rest."

Emily perked up when she heard someone coming out the door. "There you are!" she said sternly when Asher came out. She glared at Biddy pointedly.

Biddy looked at the ground under Emily's gaze. She hated that she seemed to have already made an enemy. And one with a buring hatred as well.

Victor chuckled. "You bett be," he teased, staning straight again. "Or I'm afraid this relationship just isn't going to work out."

"I've been waiting here for, like, ten minutes," Emily said, unhappy with Asher's tone of voice.

Victor's smile faltered when he realized how his words could be taken. He just meant friendship. Kind of. Friendship was a relationship, right? Victor shook of the uncomfortable situation with a laugh of his own.

"You can tell me that without yelling!" Emily shouted back.

Biddy shrunk away from the two, not wanting to get in the middle of the fight.

"Well, I think I better get you home before your sister finds out that you've been out with a stranger all day," Victor said.
