Victor laughed at every one of Shay's giggles. He slowled down majorly so as not to get to far ahead. He didn't want her to hurt herself without him being too far away to help.

"Do you really want to spoil the surprise?" Victor asked over his shoulder, amusement and taunting clear in his voice.

Victor glanced back at Shay and smiled micheiviously because he could see her clearly in the darkened cave but she could probably only see a shadow. He watched her smile and other facial expression for a few second before turning back to see light shining through the end of the cave.

"It's the end of the cave, Shay," Victor said. "It's got to only be three. School's probably just getting out for the rest of the population. The sun's still out this time of day."

Biddy was the last out of changing room, but at least he spirit's were brighter. The slight ache of her muscles made her feel refreshed and almost opptimistic. Maybe being hear wouldn't be so bad after all.

Vicrtor shrugged. "Don't worry. You'll learn this forest like the back of your hand soon enough."

Biddy walked slowly to her locker, surprised that she actually kind of knew where she was going. The halla were bustling with people hurrying to their buses or their cars, pushing other out of the way. Biddy sighed at them in her annoyed tone, but the halls cleared out in two minutes flat. Then Biddy was lost. Where was her locker again?

Biddy gasped as Zane was suddenly there. "Um, yeah, actually," she admitted, her cheeks blushing brightly. She clumsily pulled out the little slip of paper with her locker number typed on it. "Could you, um, tell me where my locker is?" she asked quietly, embarrassed at the question.

Victor reached the end of the passage and quickly ran out of it before Shay could respond to his previous comment. He quickly climbed up the nearest tree and hid behind the leave there, planning to surprise Shay when she came out of the cave.

"Thanks," Biddy said gratefully, following behind Zane. "I feel like such an idiot, not even knowing where my own locker is," she blurted out, not really having meant to say anything about how embarrassed she was.

Victor chuckled, but stayed hidden behind the leaves. "I don't know what you're talking about," he teased, watching Shay look around from between to branches.
