Mike growled and jumped on the injured caribou, trying to take it down, but it flung him off after he clawed it a few times. Falling to the ground, he waisted no time getting back up to have another go.

Jamie jumped on the caribou with him and they both took it down, " That's great Mike! The first catch on our new land!" She smiled and nuzzled him dragging the caribou home with him.

Mike was overwhelmed with pleasure. He didn't even notice the fresh bruises forming on him from being thrown off the caribou.

"Umm, I got flung off the caribou's back the first time I lunged on it. They don't hurt. i'm fine," He smiled, looking as innocent as possible. He really wasn't faking, he didn't hurt at all, he just wanted Jamie to believe that.
'Hey love?" He asked her, "You think the pups are going to like it here?"

She smiled and ate her meat.
TWO MONTHS LATER
Jamie was smiling in the sun and her black and white fur was glistening in the wind. Her stomach was huge! She rushed into the den and gave birth to three lovely pups, " Mike! Come in here! I gave birth to three pups!" She licked the afterbirth off of them.

Mike had been by the lake trying to catch a few fish. He wasn't doing too well of a job, but it was his first time trying it after all. His ears suddenly stood upright when he heard Jamie call, and he ran as fast as he could to their cave, a wide grin on his face.
He entered the cave and saw the three beautiful pups, and the proud mother. He wen't up beside her and nuzzled her gently.
"Oh Jamie, they are absolutely beautiful. Just like you."
He kissed her, then studied to three healthy pups, overwhelmed with joy.

Mike stared at the pups.
"Are you sure about Jenna?" He asked, not trying to sound pushy. "Couldn't we name her in honor of Helga? After all, without her, these pups wouldn't be here. Heck, I don't think we'd be either."
Mike stared at the pups again, watching them snuggle up against Jamie for warmth. He felt a shudder of delight course through him.
"I really can't believe it, though. I am the father of three beautiful pups. And I thought I wouldn't ammount to anything in my life."

She looked at the female and noticed that she was the runt of the litter, " Hey, Mike, she's the runt. Our Helga is the runt of the litter. There is a possibility that she could die." She replied.

Mike eyed the female pup. She was smaller, yes, but she seemed strong enough.
"She'll live, Jamie, I'm sure of it. All of our pups will grow up to be big, strong wolves one day. Just you wait and see."
Mike bent down toward the pups, talking softly to them.
"Who are my puppies? I love you all so much."
