A fursona doesn't have to have fur I've seen some people have lizard fursonas and it doesn't have to be an animal it could be a talking corndog as long as it represents the person and thinks it represents there personality they can have it.

ummm people that have horses as thier personality representation call them Equisonas.. not fursonas... it goes with what class the animal (that is, if its an animal)

Fursona originated from the furry fandom. Which is why I laugh when people use it here.

Remember the cracker a while back? I wouldn't be surprised if he thought this was a furry community based on us having "fursonas."

On topic, my fursona has been revamped to look more like a thylacine and less like a wolf.

My 'unnatural' fursona.

Name: Melody, Mellodi, or Karei.

Age: 12 1/2

Species/Breed: Pretty much any mammal with fur. Ah, what the heck, I may as well list them all.

Wolf
Fennec Fox
Flat-Coated Retriever
Jaguar
Fossa
Norwegian Forest Cat
Spectacled Bear
Yellow-Footed Rock Wallaby
Tasmanian Devil
Whitetail Deer
Okapi
Australian Fur Seal

And about these, the markings alter only slightly to match the animal. It's more the build, diet, habitat etc. that matter.

Personality: Bubbly and friendly, she's goofy yet intelligent. She's deep and mature when she wants to me, but other times... not so much. Despite being unique and 'enigmatic', she's a major pushover. She'll do pretty much whatever her friends tell her (within reason) because deep down she's afraid of losing them. She longs for company and conversation, and when she is crushing on someone (one in particular) she falls head-over-heels for them.

Other: The colour of her eyes (the iris') changes depending on her mood (like a mood ring). Here is the five possible colours and their meanings.

Aqua-ish Green: Her usual quirky, happy and easygoing self.
Blue: Feeling bored or lazy, or just chillaxing alone.
Orange: More intelligent, more imaginative and more random than normal.
Pink: When she is talking to her crush (and lovin' it) or in the mood to read a love poem or something.
Grey-ish Colour: A depressed state. Usually only when she feels lonely (or starts crying for no reason).

@ VividLegacy: I think that's a normal fursona ^^
I know from expierence that having your 'sona being a different breed can be interesting and fun.
Especially when you can't decide on an animal. My 'sona has a few. Other than Doberwolf,
it has, bear (probably polar), horse (gypsy vanner and/or unicorn), tiger (dunno what breed. siberian i think),
Wapiti, and possibly orca or Leopard seal ... and I think there's others... :3
I've seen others just do it for fun (like so: http://culpeo-fox.deviantart.com/art/Sh ... r-91896315 ) or because they want something different to try.

Roi- Yeah, I know ^^' I call it my 'unnatural' fursona because it's multicoloured and changes about. The thing is I have another version of my fursona, a Dingo/Labrador mix or something, that has much more natural markings.

But yeah, I like having it change species too, because, well, I can never stick to one animal. Because I'm an animal lover, I love almost every animal. And I have a few to add to my previous list, they include:

Raccoon
Sugar Glider
Flying Fox
Rabbit
Kangaroo Rat

Because I totally overlooked small mammals.
