But I agree with her. I don't like Ginga Dentetsu either, but unlike some *cough* I've watched a couple of episodes. Don't know a lot about it, though.

GDW (and GNG) are aMAZing; best animes I've ever seen. 'Nuff said.

The Ginga series in general is one of my favorite series next to Wolf's Rain.
I have a lot of opinions on it but these are the ones people might care to read.
I Warn You! SPOILERS!

Anime:
Of course I love Ginga Nagareboshi so much more than Ginga Densetsu Weed. Not only is GNG the original but the animation is so much better and the story is better structured, plus the anime follows the manga pretty nicely. In GNG Gin is the hero and that just feels right to me. I don't hate GDW by any means but GNG will always be better in my eyes.

Ginga Densetsu Weed does have unbalanced animation. some episodes are better drawn than others. Compare episode 1 and 2. Episode 2 looks like blocks with sticks. just horrible. Episode 1 and 25 are beautifully done though. Another thing is GDW kind of follows the story but at the same time it's oh so wrong. Jerome does not drown and Hougen is shot violently by his former owner with blood spewing everywhere from where his head was blasted off. Lighting my butt, you know how unlucky you would have to be for that to happen? yep. There are so many other things that they did wrong, which is why the GDW anime doesn't make sense to some people. Trust me the manga is so much better.

Manga:
The manga for both series is just stunning. GNG has such a nice, beautiful storyline. Yoshihiro has such detailed, wonderful characters that have personalitys that are so easy to love. He won awards and titles for GNG including "The first ever manga to have a dog as the hero".
The GNG manga is my favorite thing out of the whole franchise. <3

The GDW manga is also nicely done. There are quite a few arcs and the series continues for quite sometime after the Hougen arc. There's the monkeys, Russian Dogs and Hybrid Bear. Other major characters die, Weed meets his brothers, characters fall in love, and there are even some puppies born. Currently there are 58 volumes with volume 59 coming out sometime in July.



Also i remember someone asking why there are not many females and how the series is only for boys. As sexist as it may seem, it was. In Japan there are certain audiences that are targeted and Ginga was aimed at Seinen and Shounen which are both male audiences.

I don´t like that series. So much violence and the dogs don´t act natural. Is sad since I love dogs.
