Atticus looked at her, he squeezed her hand then started walking into the building. Leading her up the stairs, he unlocked his door and slowly entered his home, still holding Heather's hand.

Heather rushed into Atticus's room and looked around numbly. She didn't know what to do. She was still very scared, and she wanted to hide away forever.

"They said that they'd be back. Does that mean they're gonna try and get me again?" Heather blurted.

"Heather they're not after you, they want me. You where just drug into this..." he walked up behind her, and wrapped his arms around her gently. "I'm sorry Heather, I feel like this is my fault..." he mumbled. He then softly kissed her cheek.

Heather shivered a little more, and then felt herself slowly calm down. She was still very scared, but she was safe now. As long as she was safe.

"They scared me Atticus, they hit me. It hurt. I thought I was going to die..." Her once dancing caramel eyes were dull.

Atticus was silent when she spoke, he felt awful... it bothered him that he hadn't been able to get to her sooner. He took hold of her hands, and intertwined his fingers with hers. "Do you wanna stay with me tonight?" he asked, he knew how sacred she had been with the thugs the other night. He could only imagine how she felt now.

"Yes, please." Heather said as she nodded. She tried to calm herself, she kept telling herself that she was safe, no one was going to hurt her. But Heather found that hard to believe.

He nodded, "Alright." he replied as he kissed her cheek.

Scout came stumbling into the room. It was easy to tell that he had been asleep and was just now disturbed by the humans arrival. Atticus looked at the dog and chuckled then he rubbed his side a winced, looking down at his wound.

Heather looked at the graze on his side and frowned, she wanted to help, but she was no nurse.

"Umm..Maybe you should clean that, I'll go find some bandages." Heather said, she pat Scout's head as she walked by him and trotted to the kitchen. Heather found a few bandages and returned.

Atticus had gone into the bathroom to clean up. He pulled off his shirt and looked at the small gash the ran along his side. He washed it with peroxide, cursing under his breath when it started to sting. Once he was done he walked back out to Heather.

Heather quickly bandaged up the wound and nodded when she was finished. She looked at him, her eyes had seemed to darkn from caramel, to a deep, sad, brown.

Atticus noticed her eyes, he took hold of her hands. "Heather? Listen to me... They aren't going to get you again. I'm not going to let them." he looked down and sighed. "I wish I could've got to you sooner..." he sighed looking back up at her. "...but if they want to take you away, they'll have to go through me. I hate seeing you like this! You don't have to be afraid, I want the girl I met in the park that night, I want her back!"

Heather nodded, she wanted to be not so afraid. She took a deep breath and rolled her shoulders back. "Okay...I'm just tired..." She said, yes, tired, she was only tired.

"Alright." Atticus said softly, he let go of one of her hands, but still held the other, and he led her off into his bedroom, which was like the rest of the apartment, modern and neat.

Heather crashed down on the bed, she hid herself under the covers and felt sleep emmediatly take over.

Atticus glanced around and then went and laid down next to her, he again wrapped his arm around her and drifted off into sleep.
