Kai smiled, rubbing his eyes tiredly. "It ok Cachen." he said, giving a tired giggle.
Katie smiled. "I'm their mother, that's my job isn't it?" she asked, wagging her tail lightly.
Balto's face fell, hearing about her brother. "I'm sorry to hear that. That's awful."

"I ready momma, I real thirsty." said Cachen.
Jenna nodded. "Yes, but I'm sure he wouldn't want you to blaim yourself."

Katie nodded, rubbing noses with Kodi before heading off to the stream, giong at a quick trot. She set Cachen down by the water. "Here, baby."
Kai yawned again, rolling onto his back. "Papa, when you and Mama feed us again?" he asked, havng enjoyed it.
Balto nodded. "Jenna's right, you shouldn't blame yourself. Your brother wouldn't want to see you like this, blaming yourself."

Cachen kneeled down and started lapping up water...until a fish jumpped up and bit his nose. He yelpped loudly. "Momma! Get it off!" he said, trying to remove the fish.
Kodi winced. "Well KAi...you see your brother has a bad thing, if we aren't careful in what we feed you pups, he'll get really, really sick."
Tina nodded slowly. "Thank you..." she said. "Thanks...but that's not the worst part...it's my dad...he was even worse."

Katie gasped, holding Cachen down with a paw. She took the fish into her jaws, teeth tearing into it, killing it as she pulled it from her pup's nose. She threw the fish down. "Are you okay baby?" she asked, licking his nose.
Kai nodded. "But you fix it right? I see Cachen eat after he done being sick."
"what about your father?" asked Balto gently, not wanting to pry and open up old wounds.

Cachen froze up, looking down at the bleeding fish and shaking, looking sick.
Kodi nodded. "We'll fix his food so it doesn't hurt him, ok?" asked Kodi.
"He...he left us...and when I asked him why...as just a pup...well..." said Tina, stopping and pulling back the fur on her back to show deep, terrible scars.

Katie covered Cachen's eyes quickly, throwing the dead fish into the water. She kicked the red snow about, covering up the blood. "Sorry Cachen." she said with a sigh.
Kai nodded with a smile. "I know." he said, wagging his tail.
Balto's eyes widened as he looked at the scars. "Your Father did this to you?!" he asked, looking angry and horrified at the sane time.

Cachen whimpered, cuddling up to her. "Momma...why I so sick when I see red stuff? I know what called but why?"
Kodi nodded. "So...you have nice dreams?"
Tina nodded. "Threw me into a trash can onto a glass bottle that shattered into my back, didn't even bother checking on me."
"That's horrible, what terrible male to do such a thing!" said Jenna.

Katie shook her head, cuddling with her pup. "I don't know baby." she said, licking him lightly.
Kai nodded softly, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "Mhm. Good dreams."
Balto gritted his teeth, angry. "What a terrible parent." he said, shaking his head.

Katie smiled, nuzzling her pup. "You always make me feel so much better."
Kai thought. "About pretty noise... Like Mama make sometimes." he said, meaning howling. "I in forest in nighttime, and I hear pretty noise, and it pull me to it." he said, in deep thought.
Balto nodded, looking away from the scars. "Of he could do that to his own pups he was... Or, um, is... Or will be." he said, his face scrunched up in confusion.

"I good puppy?" asked Cachen, smiling.
Kodi smiled. "That's called howling," he said. "It's a wolf thing, dogs can do it sometimes to, but it means a lot more to wolves."
"Yeah, now you know my pain," said Tina.

Kai nodded, smiling happily. "It very pretty."
Balto chuckled. "It's harder than I thought."

Cachen nuzzled her back. "Thank momma," he said, then yawned widely.
Kodi nodded. "But it's also a way to communicate, those wolves are talking to each other."
Tina nodded. "I don't know how time travelers on TV do it," she said. "Anyway, my dad was a jerk and I hope I never see him again, case closed."

Katie giggled, nudging Cachen lightly. "You wanna go back to sleep?" she asked.
Kai blinked, nodding. "I no know what they saying then..."
Balto nodded. "I agree with you. If I could I'd help you more than I can."
