"Well...I've never actually tried Sound bending." Aang confessed. "I left before the monks found me a teacher."

"It's getting dark. Maybe we should get some sleep." Katara offered.

"I don't actually require sleep." said Paradox, just pointing this out. He turned back to Aang. "That's because it is not that well known in this universe." he said. "Your Bison Whistle uses that princeple to be able to extend the range of its sound." he said. "Theortically, you'd create Soundbending if you mastered how to do it." he said. "You could then preform sonic attacks, for example turning a simple clap into a sonic boom."

"Wow. I'd really like to know how to do that." Aang said. One by one, his friends went into their tents (which are somehow up) and drifted off into a doze. "Paradox?" Aang asked. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Of course Aang, I have all eternity." said Paradox, looking up at the moon and the stars. "So of course we may talk."

Hex walked up to Azula. "The soldiers say you are skilled in using Firebending to produce lightning, I wish to master this power as well and according to them, you are more skilled at it than even your father." he said, partly playing on Azula's equally notorious pride.

Aang walked over to the edge of a cliff that hung over a river of water. (Like in "The Runaway" episode) He sat down and spoke. "Is...is there a reality where I stayed with my people and saved them from the Firenation? A reality where the Air nomads still lived peacefully?" Aang asked.

"So you want me to teach you how to lightningbend?" Azula asked

"There is." said Paradox. "But there are worse realities as well." he said. "You see how this river flows and bends and splits? The time stream is the same, in all things there are many options, each timeline has thousands of interecting possibilities." he said. "In one reality, you remained at the Air Temple and entered the Avatar State, defeating the Fire Nation troops but the other temples were still destroyed." he said. "But in another timeline, you remained and were slaughtered along with the rest." he said. "In the worst possible one, you remained and perished in the Avatar State." he said. "In that timeline, the Fire Nation eventually conqured the entire world...until a hero once again arose." he said. "The Avatar Spirit regenerated for 100 years and finally returned to Earth in the next element in the cycle, Water." he said. "That new Avatar...was Katara's incarnation in that world."

OOC: Thought I'd add a weird twist on the tale.

"Yes." said Hex. "And I'll tell you something else, if I can absorb enough elemental energy, I transform myself into a dark Avatar, instead of balence, a living natural desaster."

"Oh." Aang said, hiding his emotions.

"Well then. I personally do not want to train someone. But I have a book from a library called Wan Shi Tong's spirit library. It was giving to me from Admiral Zhao before he died. It tells everything about lightning bending. You can have it if you want." Azula said.

"Do not be depressed Aang." said Paradox. "In all honesty, even if you had stayed and turned into the Avatar State and won, the War still continued for not 100 years but 150 and your successor needed to defeat the Fire Nation." he said. "The fact is, this is the best possible timeline for your universe." he said. "This is the one were met Katara and the team." he said. "If that hadn't happened, you wouldn't of defeated the Fire Nation." he said. "This timeline, for lack of a better word, is perfect as far as your involvement is concerned." he said. "Everything fall into place just right."

"I see." said Hex, taking the book. "Thank you, I will reward you for this." he said. His eyes glowed yellow, the metal in the ship formed into a canine shape and blue fire burned inside it, it was alive. "This is my gift, he is as loyal as a dog, to you and me." he said. "Name him."

Aang smiled, "You're right." He stood up, "This is the best life we could have."

"Oh I know the perfect name. Zu-Zu. My nickname for my brother." She said, watching a firenation collar form around his neck.

Paradox nodded. "There's also paralle versons of me in those universes." he said. "But I observe them from outside of time, same way they observe this one, we sometimes talk, many of them say they're jealious of me." he said. "I'm the original Paradox, so I tipically get the universes with the best fates." he said. He looked up. "And speaking of the universe." he said. "I have reason to believe that out there, every life supporting planet in your universe must have its own Avatar to maintain its ballence."

"I thought you hated your brother." said Hex, suprised.

"Don't you ever wish to be mortal?" Aang asked.

"I do. But in the days locked in prison, I realized without him, I would never have gotten the chance at becoming Firelord." Azula explained.

"At first yes." said Paradox. "I missed my family, I knew that anyone I met would die and I wouldn't but then something occured to me." he said. "Without me, the world and even the universe would have been destroyed on a number of occasions." he said. "I accept this burden for much the same reason every hero does." he said. "The value of life." he said. "There may be another life past this one but life itself has value, every life effects every other life." he said. "Directly or indirectly." he said. "Even those creatures not as intellgent as us humans, one life can benefet or hurt all." he said. "Heroes are people who accept the value of life and risk everything to protect it."

"You still want to kill him though, right?" asked Hex.

"I understand the value of life." Aang said. "The monks told me that every life is sacred. Even the life of the smallest bug."

"Of course! I only needed him in the past." She said, fury in her eyes.

"Azula!" Ozai shouted, "Mind your temper!"

"Exactly and to a time traveler, that is important." said Paradox. "When time traveling, if I step on the wrong bug, I could completely alter history." he said. "I once did that, ended up making a world ruled by giant cockroaches." he said. "I went back in time and stopped myself from stepping on the bug, negating that future." he said. "But you get the point." he said. "But most cases, it doesn't have much effect because I was supposed to be there." he said. "If I went back in time without a set reason, it would have a negative effect, if I go somewhere I'm supposed to, it has a positive effect, and sometimes, its best for me to sit back and watch how things play out." he said. "Sound familure?"

"I like you." said Hex, smiling. "Power hungry, ruthless, vengeful, and prideful." he said, smiling. "A lot like me at your age."
