As the seconds ticked by, Balto become more and more anxious. Keso had not moved, and still seemed lost in his own world. Of to one side, Balto could hear Kalgorn and Cale struggling, and as Kalgorn's breaths became more and more labored and faster, his worry for the young wolf grew. I can't just stand here, can I? Balto asked himself, If I do, Kalgorn may die, but if I go to help him, that leaves Jenna alone...
Jenna glanced at Balto and then at Treffen and Krystal. Why would no one help Kalgorn?

Kalgorn's vision had gone all hazzy now. No air had reached his lungs in close to 30 seconds now. He was losing it. The grip his jaws had on the wolfs throat started to weaken. This was it. Because of his idiotic mistake, he was going to die. Cale's blood was now drowning him. It flooded his mouth and spilled over his cheeks and down his neck.
He knew he never had a chance at beating Cale but he didn't think a death like this was what awaited him when the fight was all said and done. His paws that held Cales head up gave out. The paw fell to the ground and allowed Cale to bite bite him anywhere those fangs could reach. If he did manage to get his fangs into something, It didn't matter. He was exhausted, in pain, and couldn't breathe. If he let go of Cale's throat as an effort to get some air, it would only help out Cale. He still wouldn't be able to breath. The blood had slid down his throat and the paw that was crushing his windpipe prevented any oxygen to reach his lungs. He was done for. Balto was too busy fighting off Keso and protected Jenna to help him. There was nothing, no one that could turn this around.
He'd lost the battle. There was nothing to be done about it, his life was mere seconds away from burning out. As young and strong he was, he just hadn't had the experiance to fight a wolf as cuning and cruel as Cale. But in the end, he supposed he'd rather die to help his friends live. He'd gotten them into this predicament hadn't he? If anyone should die, it was him. But once Cale finished him, he would just go and help finish off Balto and Jenna. His death would halp solve nothing. He felt his last reserves of energy being called upon. He should just end the life of this miserable wolf right now. He was going to kill him anyway. There really wasn't much left for him to do. His jaws were weak and he was just barely holding on. His fangs had punctured the throat and that was the only reason Cale's throat wasn't free of his jaws.
The only thing he could do was strike Cale. Somewhere that would really make his life miserable. Something that would both hurt and was vulnerable at this time. His first thought was far beyond reach. Cale had cleverly angled his body so that his body wasn't vulnerable to a kick. The only thing that was within reach was. . . Kalgorn gave it everything he had left. The exertion of energy may have caused him to black out, but not before he felt his claws make contact with the wolfs head and sink right into his eye.

Balto watched in horror as Kalgorn began to suffocate beneath Cale, blood flowing over his muzzle and chest. He felt his breathing speed up, and he glanced and Jenna and then at Kale. Finally, he could take it no longer.
"Stay here," he whispered urgently to Jenna.
With that, he dashed off toward where Kalgorn and Cale were struggling in the snow. Just as he neared them, Kalgorn sank his claws into Cale's right eye before collapsing entirely. Taking quick advantage of the situation, he siezed Cale's neck as he stumbled about shaking his head.
"Why are you here?" he growled. "Why are you doing this?"
Meanwhile, Jenna watched as Balto surprised Cale and almost cheered when he began to interrogate him. She glanced and Keso and saw that he was still looking at her; rather, he was looking in her direction, but not really seeing her. He still seemed lost in another world.
Silently she wondered what had happened to him.
Seeing Kalgorn lying unmoving in the snow, however, triggered her yet-developing maternal instincts. She called Treffen and Kikki over to take her place on the path toward the cave and ran over to Kalgorn.
"Kalgorn?"
She moved him gently onto his side, and a small puddle of blood began to grow around his muzzle. Cale's blood, it seemed to Jenna, had drowned him.

Cale would let out a loud whimper of pain as a claw struck right into his eye, and he would flail about madly as he felt his eye begin to bleed and ooze blood out of it, a terrible sight to watch. Luckily Kalgorn's attack, though in a vital area, had been to weak to cause permanent damage, but for now the eye seemed to be rendered useless as it sealed itself shut. As he felt Kalgorn's grip upon his loosen and fall away, Cale would also let go of everything he'd had on Kalgorn, and was about to turn to help Keso take down Balto, when out of nowhere a strong jaw would close around his neck all over again, only tearing up his neck worse than what it was. He'd actually let out a muffled laugh though when Balto tried to interrogate him, and would simply refuse to answer such a lowly wolf, using what energy he had left in him to try and roll himself and Balto over with him, in hopes that the collision with the ground would loosen the wolf's grip on him just enough to escape it. If this failed however, Cale would simply lay upon the ground, exhausted and losing all feeling to his muscles as they began to go numb, maybe Cale had finally met his match...?

"Run! I'll draw them away!" a bloodied Keso shouted to Ona as he battled off several of his friends and family, his kin. It wasn't just his father's pack, but Ona's family had joined the fray as well, each fighting for their clan's honor and to prevent such a wretched union from occuring. Ona merely nodded without making a sound and fled, only to be followed closely by Keso's father and his most elite warriors.
The enraged young male snarled in fury, ripping the throats out of the wolves nearest him, not even pausing to see who they were anymore. He beat them all back until most had either fled or died by his paws or those who were loyal enough to him to look past everything else. Namely, his best friend, Cale.
"Cale, hold the rest of them off! I have to go after Ona!" It wasn't a request, but an order, something he was quite used to giving, but not to Cale. Even so, he didn't bother to appologize or make sense of anything else that was going on, he just bolted after the hunting party; after Ona.
An excruciating, deafening scream filled the air, a feminine scream, and his heart pounded against his chest, willing his legs to move faster, to beat the ground that kept him from his love and his hated enemies, as they had become. His movement became a whirlwind of black rushing past tree and bush with only one sense of direction and one purpose. But as Ona and her pursuers came into view, he skidded to a halt in terror. The blood was everywhere, on every tree, bush and rock and especially on their faces. Her blood. He stood there with no response at first, shock the only thing that filled him, but finally he stirred and an enraged howl filled the air.
It was that day, that horrible day, that Keso had come to hate the world in which he lived and all who still breathed upon it. He rebelled against everything he held dear, especially Aniu, who had turned away in his most dire moment of need and despair. He had become the sadist, the murderer, the avenger, the raper. In a blind rage, he slew his father and packmates, returning later to finish the job by killing the rest who had stood against him, including his mother and siblings.
As the memory completed itself in his mind, he gazed back at reality, realizing what was happening. He glanced without moving his head to where Balto was now engaging Cale in battle, leaving Jenna protected by only those weaklings in the pack here. Without giving any warning, he lunged around the two next to her that were helping her revive Kalgorn and aimed directly for her, hoping to bowl her over and at the very least knock her out, though his claws could very well do a good deal of damage if they landed on her body.
"Miserable little wench! Why should you live when she has not? You will die just as she did and maybe then my pain will be relieved!" he roared at her and swiped at her stomach with his talons. Without pausing in his melee attack, he shouted over his shoulder to his beta, "Cale! Order the troops to close in and provide back up! Get them to relieve you in battle!"

Balto uttered a small yelp as Cale twisted them both to the ground. Caught by surprise, he slackened his grip on Cale's throat and Keso's beta slipped away. Balto cursed himself for not anticipating Cale's resistance, but as he made to leap after him, he heard Keso snarl in rage and realized that whatever trance had befallen him had gone.
Now, Keso was after Jenna.
"Jenna, no!"
Jenna cried out as Keso struck her and, because of her light weight compared to the rest of them, was thrown back directly into a tree. Normally, she would have been able to stand again, even after such a terrible hit, but as she fell to the ground she landed wrong, and a distinct 'crack' was heard.
She cried out again and gritted her teeth as she tried to stand up, but the instant she put weight on her back right foot, the searing pain that followed made her sink back to the ground. She looked up to see Keso padding toward her.
And then Balto came.
Without wasting a moment, he stood over her protectively, determined that she would not die while he yet stood. To make this known, he bared his teeth at Keso and snarled a warning.
"Over my dead body."

Cale would manage to get back a safe distance away, reorganizing for a second attack on the unsuspecting Balto, and obeying his alpha's orders knowing he would need a bit of help for the "distraction", "yes Keso, as you wish." He'd simply turn his glare towards his right, and out of nowhere two wolves would step forward, awaiting for Cale to summon them forward, and both would stop in front of the large white wolf awaiting orders. Cale would look upon both with his one good eye, the other drying over in blood yet would still have a smile upon his face, enjoying every minute of the fighting "Darkmoon, I would like you to take Balto from his back right, and Hades, follow me for a frontal attack on Balto, we shall end this wolves life once and for all." At that, Darkmoon would slowly pad his way around to Balto's rear, right where Cale had ordered him and awaited the signal. He and Hades on the other hand, padded right up to where Keso was in front of Balto, and would take a position in front of their alpha prepared to fight. At the nod of Cale's head, Darkmoon rushed forward and would lunge at Balto's exposed hind paw, his fangs bared and jagged, most likely landing their mark immobilizing the stupid wolf. After Balto turned to defend his rear, Cale would quickly rush forward, followed closely behind by Hades, the white wolf taking on Balto from a strange angle at his side, and attempting to rip his claws deep into the wolf's exposed side. Meanwhile, Hades would attack Balto's front, or behind if Balto turned to defend himself, attacking anything he could get his fangs into, from a tail, to a paw, possibly even an eye or muzzle, one thing was for sure though, Balto would be to distracted to take care of Jenna now.

After putting so much effort into getting Cale off him, Kalgorn had blacked out. Too exhausted and having been denied breath for too long. Common sense would tell you that when this has happened to a wolf, he's dead. It's just the basics to life. Air is what keeps you alive. Take that away, and we die. However, by some miracle, Kalgorn was able to breathe as soon as Balto had done the favor of pulling him off him. He'd been out of it at this point, but his throat had opened up and air was allowed to pass. He had gotten that air just in time. For now, when he ought to be dead, he was opening his eyes. Having been strangled AND drowned at the same time, this was nothing short of a miracle.
As soon as he was awake enough to realize the pain that racked his body, he began breathing. The repulsive taste of Cale's blood filled his mouth. His hearing returned to him and the sounds he heard were not what he wanted to hear. He could hear Jenna crying out in pain as something hurt her. He knew it just had to be Cale. Cale or Keso. Speaking of Cale. . . where was he. Driven by this thought, Kalgorn got to his paws. Still weak from his exhaustion and soreness. God did Cale do a number on him! He let out a slight whimper his throat hurt as he turned his head to look for the white pelt of Cale. As foolish as it'd be, he wanted to find Cale and take him down. If he was hurting his friends. . .
His green eyes darted around, looking for the evil male wolf. When he finally found him, he growled at what he saw. Four wolves attacking Balto. Two he didn't recognize, and the other two was Keso and Cale. It wasn't just unfair, it was pure evil. Balto didn't stand a chance against all of them at once. He had to help! Dashing over as fast as his tired limbs would allow, he prepared to tackle one of them. But. . . no. He didn't attack. He just stood still and called out the name of the white wolf. "CALE!" He heard his voice echo slightly. But even so, he waited a few moments for the wolf to look. "We've got something to finish!" His voice sounding braver than her truley felt, he readied himself.

Balto cried out as he felt teeth sink into one of his rear legs. He made to turn around but, seeing Cale and another wolf standing nearby, elected not to. Rather, he simply whipped his entire body sideway, and gritted his teeth as he felt his attacker's jaws scrape across his leg before being thrown loose.
That done, he reared onto his front legs and thrust his back ones out. He smiled a bit when they made contact, and a yelp reached his ears. But then, he forgot his choice to face Cale's direction and looked back at the wolf who had attacked his rear leg.
By the time he realized his mistake and turned back, Cale and the other wolf were on him. He tried to hold his ground, but while dodging a lunge from Cale, the other wolf knocked him over, and he tumbled away from Jenna.
Jenna, only barely seeing all this thru her blurred vision, looked up at the only thing she could see clearly, Keso, and began to back away. Though she wanted to leap to her paws and run, her back leg, which she suspected was broken, forced her to crawl.

(I'll make up some random pack member of Keso's to continue the fight, and when Jenna wakes up, Keso can begin her torture O.o I guess.)
Keso's teeth narrowed into a vicious grin, gleeming in what dim light there was around. The murderer glimpsed the fear and anticipation of death in his prey's eyes as he sauntered forward to end her life. But just as he was about to lunge and end it all for her, a wicked thought struck him. Why make it all so quick for both she and the mutt? Surely it would be even more cruel to give them both a glint of hope and then snatch it away. His grin widened into a smirk of almost pure insanity and sadism momentarily, before the expression was wiped off his face and replaced by only menace.
He padded toward her head and aimed for it, hoping to bludgeon it just enough to knock the nearly helpless fae out. Regardless of if she lost consciousness or not, he still grabbed at the loose skin on her neck and heaved her up, slinging her over his back, despite any protests that might come if she was indeed still conscious. Keso then snarled out loudly to Cale, "Keep him," then hearing the remnants of Kalgorn's voice speak, "them busy still. I'll send reinforcements your way shortly, but for now I have a package to deliver."
He smirked with sadistic pleasure and sent the look directly to Balto, waiting only until the male could definetly see, before loping off with the spoils of war, through the trees and back toward the pack's current territory. He threw back his head and sent up a howl, alerting the nearest forces and then put all concern of the current battle out of mind for the moment.

(Sorry all, I've had Internet troubles for the past week. I'm glad to see this still going though!)
Jenna felt the jerk, and then suddenly realized she was draped over Keso's back like so much dead weight. She struggled to muster the strength even to look up, but her vision swirled, the colors blurring into a shade of gray and then blackness enveloped her as all noise faded away.
Balto met Keso's eyes for an instant, and saw him smirk as he displayed Jenna lying helpless on his back, undoubtedly unconcious if not dead. In that instant, he felt the world around him slow down as though time itself were exhausted and faltering.
In reality, the anger that burst so suddenly from his chest clouded his vision, and when he surged forward to kill Keso, he found Cale blocking his way.
He dipped his head and charged Cale, but little did he realize that his desperation and anger were conspiring to blind him; he was fighting dangerously and becoming reckless

Okay, well since he's being slow, I'll post for him.
Cale didn't need to nod. Keso would know that the order would be followed, to the grave if necessary. He was focused entirely on Balto, watching as the other male charged at him, head down and legs pounding the ground without mercy. He had barely heard Kalgorn's shout, but Darkmoon had. The subordinate wolf whirled around and went for Kalgorn, nothing huge, just a charge but he was still more than a match for the wounded wolf. This left Hades and Cale to Balto. Cale stiffened, ready for the oncomming blow from Balto's charge and Hades circled around to the back, waiting for a moment to strike.

The charging Darkmoon that ran at him did nothing to stop Kalgorn. He just stepped out of the wolf's path and looked back over to the albino white wolf. "Cale!" He shouted, pushing Darkmoon to the ground by throwing his shoulder into the wolf's side. "Come finish what you started. Or are you too afraid i'll render your other eye useless as well?" He yelled all this as loud as he could, which wasn't that loud really. His strength still a little weak from the crushing paw that had blocked off his air supply for what seemed forever. He didn't plan on wasiting his energy fighting some other wolf. His sights were locked on Cale. He wanted to end his life. If he could manage that, then Kale would have him to back him up anymore.
The two had already come close to taking out Jenna and had knocked Balto out, they had to be split up. The alliance between them was just to threatning to be allowed to continue.
