Shane woke up with a jolt; his eyes snapped open, and he realized he was still in a bed, and nobody was chasing him; it had just been a nightmare.

Shane bit his bottom lip and forced his eyes to stay open, since the images he saw when they were closed were much worse. "It's just..." he began softly, "...she didn't do anything bad, why didn't I die instead, it was my fault..."
