"Exactly." Tara smiled as she reached the car. She opened the back door and waited for Chase to go inside first, then she sat on his lap to leave room for the new arrivals.
Shane froze at the sight of all the people inside the car; the last time he'd seen so many people in one place... he shook his head to relieve the memories, but still remained frozen in his father's arms.

Tara smirked and pointed to everyone in the car, one after another introducing them. "That's Dymitri, Chase's boyfriend, he controls darkness. Carmen, controls fire, Damien, he's a trainee, and Kyler, his girlfriend."

Shane just stared at everyone, terrified.
Tara noticed Shane's worry and said softly, "Hey, don't be scared..." she she hesitantly reached her hand out to him, in an effort to comfort him.
Shane instantly recoiled, bright eyes wider than ever.

Shane responded by nuzzling into his dad's shoulder. He didn't want to talk to these people in the first place, in fear that they could be spies.

Then, Shane's stomach growled. He remembered how he hadn't eaten at all today, and he was still tired from trying to blind Tara and Chase before.
