Suddenly, Lark snorted and blinked obsessively. "Does anyone else smell that?" he exclaimed, scrunching his nose in disgust.
"Aw, gross!" Pascal added, covering his nose and mouth with his shirt collar.

Pascal clenched his eyes shut for a moment, as if afraid to feel them burning from the smell. "What kind of test is this?!" he questioned accusingly. "Do they want to know our take on mustard gas?!" He coughed once, burying his face deeper into his shirt.
"Humans cannot smell this mixture." boomed a voice over a nonexistant loudspeaker.
"Just checking to make sure we're not humans in disguise?!" Lark cried out, receiving no answer.

Rue tried breathing through her mouth, and it helped to some extent. It still smelled awful though, and she pinched her nose shut tight.
Kara felt like she would throw up; this stuff smelled nasty.
"Well, judging by the wings," Rue retorted, "I'm pretty sure we're not fully human."
"You can turn it off now," Kara added nasally, nose pinched in between her fingers in a vain attempt to escape the nauseating smell.
