She was a bit surprised when Damien stopped her and took her face in his hands, but knowing that he did in fact care about her allowed Kyler to relax. "I'm sorry." she replied quietly after a short pause. "I guess I'm just worried too; my imagination must be running off with me." She took his hands and held them. "Sorry." she apologized again, close to a whisper. It was wrong of her to accuse Damien like that.

Kyler couldn't meet his gaze. When he looked at her in the eye, she couldn't help but feel unworthy of having a best friend like him while she was barely as good a friend to him as he was to her. "I don't know, I-" she paused, wondering why she felt this way. "I don't deserve you." she finally admitted truthfully.

Kyler soon found herself looking at her feet, nervously smoothing her hair back from her face. "Well I'm glad you think that way." she confessed, "But you know it's not true. I always wondered why you didn't ditch a loser like me after all these years. You're perfect in every way, and I'm... not."

"Don't talk like that!" she yelled sternly, but instantly felt guilty. "Sorry." she said right after. "I'm just worried." and paused to bite her lip, then added, "I don't want to lose you. You're one person I couldn't live without." while anxiously rubbing her feet together.

"I mean..." Kyler began, trying to think of words to describe what she was feeling. "What I mean is that you're going to be starting a whole new extension of your life with the elements, and once my parents find out where I was all this time, I'll never be able to see you again. And because you're so perfect, you're gonna find someone else much better than me who can control the elements too, and you'll be able to travel the world with her, while I'm just an average kid, stuck here." after taking in a breath, she added, "That's what I mean, okay?" it felt good to finally let out what she was feeling, but she also felt like she had slapped him in the face. She looked away, unable to meet his gaze.

Kyler slowly looked back up at him while he told her that he would never leave, but Kyler's heart throbbed when he asked if she didn't want him. Her thoughts swam with answers, and the thought of him leaving made her feel sick and like she couldn't even stand. She set her light brown eyes to seem stern and grabbed his wrists so he would look at her. "Damien," she replied, hoping he would never forget what she was about to tell him. "Listen to me. The thought of you leaving is the worst nightmare I could ever dream of. Even when we were little, we always had each other. I can't even imagine what life would be like without you, because you are my life. You always have been... and I always want you to be." She didn't even realize until now that a black trail of makeup was running down her cheek, but didn't bother wiping it. "The only thing I want is for you to be happy, and I don't want to get in the way of your happiness."

As Damien spoke, Kyler couldn't help but smile widely, and she couldn't stop it from growing. Alright, he did sound cheesy, but that's what made her feel even better, because he would risk sounding cheesy just to tell her he loved her. Kyler blushed like mad as well, but when he spoke those three words, she couldn't control herself as she leapt back into his arms and pressed her lips to his. She kissed him briefly, then pulled away and said, "You love me...?", not believing what she'd just heard. She felt safe with him, and whenever they were together she felt as though she could take on the world. "Well, I love you so much." Kyler stated, feeling as though she could never say it enough.

Kyler smiled as Damien pulled her in again and she rested her hands on his shoulders. This had to be the best moment of her life; she found out that someone actually loves her and it wasn't one-sided. She kissed him back and loved it; loved him. This was how it was meant to be and she knew it, even from the first time they met, back during the early years. Suddenly, a few raindrops cascaded from above, landing on her nose and her head, but she paid no mind. Staying dry wasn't as important as showing how much she loved Damien. However, she did giggle in between kisses, "It's raining."
