Fern couldn't help but giggle as the wolf's wet tongue lapped at her face. She whipped the small bit of slobber of her face as the wolf bent down and covered his eyes in a very human way. Fern cocked an eyebrow at him and asked, "Are you trying to play some sort of game?"

Cody shook his head and did it again.

"Oh," Fern said in surprise, not expecting the wolf to communicate back to her. She tried to think logically about this since the wolf apparantly also had logic. "Um, close my eyes?" Fern said, shutting her eyes tightly to see if she was right.

Cody morphed back to his human self and said "Yes. That is right, she-wolf."

Fern gasped at the same time that she opened her eyes. She could only stare at the boy in front of her for many long seconds, recognition slowly coming to her. Finally she said, "Wh-what did you call me?"

Cody smiled and said "She-wolf. That's what you are after all."

"What are you talking about?" Fern snapped, confused and frustrated.

Cody smirked and asked "What attacked you?"

Fern paused, confused as to what relevence that had to do with anything. "A bear, of course," she said, the lie so common on her lips that her tone was smooth.

Cody smirked and said "The lie is evident to any wolf's nose."

Fern froze, not expecting Cody to contridict her story. "Oh, what do you know," Fern said defensively, turning her back on him. "You don't know anything about me."

Cody smiled and asked "Have you been having dreams or memory flashes that weren't yours?"

Fern kept quiet for a moment, remembering the strange dreams she had been having lately, but it was surely just a coindedence. "No, of course not," she said.

Cody smirked and said "You really need to stop lying right now Fern. It's better that way."

Fern sighed. "How do you even know that I'm lying?" she asked.
