Valid point you have there. I won't deny my false step by assuming more than I should.
However, the wording in general is confusing, and to top it off, I have not heard of such a game. Maybe this is proof that my coverage of the industry isn't large enough, but that sort of game is definitely not mainstream.

Also, context clues are present for my assumption. The casual use of 'my' in the structured sentence lead it to sound like the dog is material and not virtual. Of course, different people talk in different ways, so it could be possible that point isn't valid. The second clue is that if it truly was a video game, the system that it would be playing on would have likely been given.

There is something about regulating rules for Brawl for tournaments that really rubs me the wrong way. While it is always up to one's opinion on how to run things, suggesting what in-game setting is suitable for 'official' or 'official-like' tournament setting just seems a wrong act to me
Specifically for Brawl, these in-game settings I'm talking about are Items and Stage.

To me, Items are a big part of what defines the series. Their randomness really check the players in staying on their toes. Having items off and having them on creates a different set of strategies and both setting are fine. I would personally participate in both type of matches.
Defining which setting is more 'official' than the other is sleezeball act and I think the smashboards (and all other communities) should change their notation of this issue to equalize both settings and not suggesting one as the 'official' setting, leaving it to opinion of the organizer.

Stages is a similar issue. The stages are there by design for strategy. Just because a stage moves or has a strange behavior is not a valid reason for not playing it or preventing it from being played at tournaments. It just means that it's another challenge for the players to overcome. I think if anyone want to be a 'master' or 'expert' of the game, they should know every stage and know how to fight effectively on every one.
While I believe in the use of organizing stages to best suit specific occasions (semi-final, final battles), I don't think there should ever be a banned list for the stages (or, on the same line as items, an 'official' or 'recommended' list of banned stages). On the same line as items: equalize it and don't imply anything as 'official,' leave it to opinion.

Games: Pretty much the same as last time, but I changes around some equipment in my main file of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and that has made my survivability sky-rocket. I might just be able to finally complete the game without restarting!
