"I'll help... I'll explain this later," said Dusty, returning to the mischief spirit form that Sakak had temporarally granted her. "Long story short, I'm a mischief spirit for a day, don't ask," she said, looking to Sakak and Belladonna. "Think we can go lend a paw?"

Sakak made himself visible to the mortal canines and nodded. "Of course, that's half of our job here is to mend the broken love of these two. Can't do that if a psycho wolf is in the way," he said, then looked to Kodi. "I now you've already heard this a million times today, but you're still on thin ice. And let me tell you one thing, you EVER do this again, I'm turning you into a skunk for a year, got it?"

Shenkin's head snapped to look. He looked back to Katie. "Play your part, remember the price," he whispered.

Kodi, Ralpha and Kirby were all equally shocked. Kodi gulped, and nodded. "Y-Yea." he said and shook his head. He rushed off past everyone. "Katie, please wait... I'm coming... i'm coming!" he called out, knowing she wouldn't be able to hear him. Tai sped off with her father.

Belladonna revealed herself. "Hopefully he's learned his lesson."

"Well, you..." She found a large pine cone and turned around, kicking it toward's Shenkin. For however long that may have distracted him, she bolted, clear over the brush, paws kicking up snow.

Cachen hurried off after his father. "Daddy, I'm really scared..."

Dusty and Sakak both disappeared into black smoke to teleport.

Shenkin snarled, rushing off after her. He kicked a rock, hitting her in the back of the knee.

Kodi smiled. "Don't be scared, Cachen." he turned straight ahead and glared. "Momma's gonna be okay, and so won't I."

Belladonna disappeared as well once Kirby and Ralph followed.

Katie gave a cry and hobbled briefly. She continued to try and run, though she was greatly slowed down, her knee throbbing.

"Mama!" Kai gasped, and would follow.

Cachen was still crying. "Papa... I just want our family back to how it used to be..."

Sakak and Dusty appeared behind Kai. "What's the situation?"

Shenkin caught up and clampped his jaws down on her injured knees.

Kodi nosed his cheek. "It will," tears brimmed his own eyes. "I'll never put you through this again."

Kai gasped, and he snarled, eyes hard. "Look!"


Katie screamed out in extreme pain, tears going down her face. "agggghh!" she groaned, falling immediately.

Cachen whined. "I hope so papa."

"Oh crud..." said Sakak, looking. "And this isn't good, I can't really get a clean shot with anything without hurting Katie..."

Shenkin twisted her leg brutally, trying to break it. "You just don't know your place, do you?!" he snarled as he wrenched her leg.

OOC: This seems like Kodi's oppertunity to prove to Katie he's still loyal.

"I know so." Kodi said and stopped. He tilted his head up. "Do you hear that?"

He would be hearing Katie's screams of pain, agonized tears ran down her face. She clawed at the ground, trying to claw herself away. "AGH!" she screamed out at a particularly painful yank, blood staining the snow.

Kai growled. "Try harder, he's gonna break her leg!" he said, angry and wanting to run out. "We need to get Gradma and Grandpa!"

"Ah, I've got an idea," said Sakak, snapping his fingers, melting the snow in front of the incoming dog's paws so they could get more traction and go faster, but making sure Kodi was fast as physically possible for him to be. "Help is on the way."

"Momma!" yelled Cachen, fear and horror in his face and voice.

Shenkin placed Katie's leg on a rock and swung it down, smashing her knee hard off of it. He then took her leg up to do it again. "I'm going to smash your leg, then I'm going to drag that mangy mutt here and rip out his throat right in front of you." he said before going to smash her knee off the rock again.

Jenna's ears perked. "Balto, do you hear screaming?"

Kodi blinked as the snow melted before them. He raced forward, calling out. "Katie! Katie!"

His cries would be met by screams, birds flying out of their nests. There were minor snaps and cracks as she sobbed, gritting her teeth. Then... He finally did it. There was a sickening snap. Katie let out a blood chilling scream, like that of a dying animal, her body shaking as she screamed for help.

Kai's eyes widened, and he couldn't keep tears from going down his face.

Anabelle gasped, shocked. "... Enough!" she said, looking about for something to do. "I wish I could do something!" she said, angry.

Balto's eyes widened. "Katie!" he said, turning his head in the direction of the screams... Not to mention the faint snap.

Sakak took out a cheetah totem. "This should help," he said, vanishing into smoke and putting it around Kodi's neck. "A speed boost to get you to your mate's side quicker."

Lena broke down in tears. "Momma..." she muttered before fainting.

Shenkin stood on Katie's broken leg, grinding his foot into it, now a completely psychotic look on his face. "This is what you get for denying me what I've been going after all my life!" he snapped, giving an insane laugh. Something in him had just... snapped.

Kodi blinked in surprise, looking down at the totem. He felt far faster and nodded. He took off like a bullet. "I'm coming Katie!!!"

Balto was relatively close, and heard Shenkin's crazy laugh. "I shouldn't have let her go."

"Lena!" Kai said as Belladonna popped up.

"What's going on?" she asked, looking at Lena and then Katie. "Oh..."

Katie cried out and whimpered, crying out. "Stop! Stop!" she said, quite frightened now.

Sakak nodded and guided Kodi right towards the fight.

Shenkin chuckled. "Do you regret denying me now?" he asked, giving an insane laugh, finally taking his paw off her broken leg. "Now, I wonder where I can find that mate of yours," he asked, unknowing Kodi was barrieling right at him.

Kodi stopped, looking in on the scene. Katie's tears, the blood, her leg... He growled and snapped the totem off. "I'm right... HERE!" he growled out, leaping out towards Shenkin, aiming to latched onto his neck.

Katie looked up through her tears, eyes wide. "Kodi!"
