Elessa sighed and gave her brother a hug. "Poor Storm. Certainly seems like there one hanging over your head."

Storm miled.

"Come on." said Elessa walking back to the clearing. "Lets see if we can convince samantha to do this ritual." But when she walked into the clearing and saw sam kissing Dante whilst dantes head was in her lap, she quickly stepped in front of Storms veiw.

Sam leant up and smiled at dante, then looked at Elessa. "I'm still not doing it." she called.

trom hrugged "Fine" he said "But when people die it's your fault"

Dante put a hand on Sams "Why not?" he asked softly.

Sam ignored Storm and looked down at Dante. "I'm never going to replac4e my parents. I'll never become a singer because my mother was one. I'll never become a history teacher because thats what my father was. AAnd i'll never do this ritual because i would be replacing my parents. Its like forgetting they every existed. erasing them." she asid quitely

Dante sighed and nodded once.

Kaien rolled his eyes "Stupid girl" he said, he was now sat againts a tre in human form, But blood and oaked through the back of his t shirt "it's not replacing them, It's carrying on a legacy"

"I have nothing left from my parents but a trust fund and memorys. If i feel like they will be erased by me stepping in and carrying in the legacy as you say, then thats how i feel." hissed Sam over her shoulder.

Kaien shrugged "I get how you feel, i've got a different father to my siblings-"

"You what?!" yelped Dante

Kaien ignored him "thing is, if you ignore what you have from them, Talent,chances whatever, Then you erase them, ust in a different way. I mean, my father still alivem though I wih he was dead after what he did to me and my mother, but I threw away what I got from the pair of em. Hi talent,the stuff my mom left for me. I threw it away and you know something? I canb't say I regret it it made me who I am. But I forget stuff sam, stuff people normally remember abou their parents. until i met Morten i forgot about my fathers violent temper, i forgkot the way my mom used to smile hen she was proud of me. It starts off little things but it gets worse until one day, you can't remember them anymore"

"Thats the thing. I can remember. i rmember too well." said Sam looking into the distnce.

Kaien looked at her "you think?"

"I remember her vioce as she woke me up teh first morning of school. I remmber my father helping me with homework. I remember my mother and father hugging me as i went into school every morning. I remmber my mothers perfume and my dads cologne. I remmber there vioces, the way they laugh. i remember our house, the way my mum would play with my dolls with me and get more into the story then i was, making up silly vioces and names for every barbie. The way my father would chase me and pick me up, giving me huggs." sam paused, closing her eyes to hold back tears and biting her lip, taking in a shuddering breath thorugh her nose.

"You eitehr remember the best or the worst" aid kaien "And sometimes the worse is easier to cope with" he pulled up his sleeve slightly to show a thick jagged scar on his arm "he did that to me, its easier to think of him as dead, but my mother2 he looked down, his eyes acctually showing a ghost of tears.

"There was no bad." said Sam tears in her eyes, unconciosly stroking Dantes hair. "I remmber nearly every day since i was 2 till i was 4."

KAien whinced "I'd comfort you but i wouldnt know how" he said "Look, Sam, Don't you trhink they'd want you to help people"

"Maybe they would. But they haven't been around the last 10 years of my life, they haven't changed nay decisions i've ever made before, si i dont see why they should now." she said almost bitterly.
