"That's fine" Tosca replied, ignoring the other wolf's reaction. "As long as she survives and gets better eventually"
Kai attempted to open her eyes but they only flashed open for a second before she moaned something that were supposed to sound like words.
"What do you need to do to make her better?" Una asked, throwing away her usual suspiciousness and catching on.

The tan she-wolf put a paw to the younger wolf's forehead. "First, we need something for the fever, then we need to wrap her leg in a special kind of leaf that grows in the Southern forest." After a brief description of the leaf, Twilight revealed himself.

"I will fetch the leaf for you. I know the Southern forest well by now." he said. Frida was surprised by the appearance of the black wolf, but in the essence of time did not question him. He took off to find what the healer needed.

Tosca nodded to Twilight and watched him leave the cave.
"So what do we have to do to get her fever down? Is there another kind of plant, or something?"
Una paced back and forth, not being able to take it any more. She was smart enough that she knew she couldn't do anything else at the moment, but her maternal instincts were kicking in strongly.

Frida shook her head. "No. I'm there is no plant that can reduce her fever." she said. "What she needs is water. Mineral water. It is the best thing for her at the moment." She looked out of the cave. "I wish that black wolf hadn't left so soon. I know of a pool in the southern forest, on this side of the river, that holds the most pure mineral water for miles. But I would rather not leave my patient. Do any of you know of the pool?"

Tosca shook her head. "But I can follow Twilight. I might be able to catch up with him and maybe he'll know"
Tosca knew she nor any of her siblings had head of the pool but maybe Twilight did. Tosca turned to look out of the cave but caught sight of Farren instead.
"Do you know where the pool is?" She asked Farren. "If not, I'll just go after Twilight"

Farren thought. "The pool..." he muttered. "You mean the mineral pool in the south forest?" he asked. "Yeah, I know where that is. Come on!" The two took off running. A few minutes later they were at the pool. The red wolf took a vaguely bowl-shaped rock and gathered some water in it. They took it back to the cave and set it down before Kai, who drank it.

Kai lapped up the water and placed her head down on the ground without opening her eyes. No reaction seemed to have happened yet, but Tosca knew nothing ever happened immediately. She sighed and laid down next to her sister, knowing that Twilight would soon be back with whatever was supposed to heal Kai.
"How long will it take for her to get better?"

Frida shook head. "I'm not sure. Anywhere between one to two weeks, to be sure." she said Twilight returned a few moments later with a large leaf. The tan she-wolf proceeded to wrap the white wolf's leg, and held it there with bark pine sap, which she had chewed into a paste to hold the wrapping together. "That should do it." she said. "Only time will tell now, if she will get well again. I will be back every day to check on her and make sure she is doing well."

"Okay, thank you" Tosca said, not leaving her sister's side.
After Frida and Farren had left, Tosca laid her head down over Kai. Una laid down on the other side of Kai and closed her eyes as well. Tosca was sure that Frida and Farren would come back again, but the only thing they could do now was sit and wait.

Over the course of the next week, Frida came every day to check up on Kai, and Farren was allowed to come every other day. At first the others regarded them with suspicion, but soon they were welcomed. Farren and Yuma would crack jokes and laugh all the time, Tosca looking on with a smile and occasionally joining in. Frida spent most of her time with Kai, although she have the occasional conversation with Twilight. She offered to try and maybe help reduce the nasty affects and appearance of the scar on his leg, but he refused. He wanted to keep it there as a reminder of his past, whatever that may be. Finally, Kai became healthy enough to walk normally again. She was still a little weak, but the infection had past. Frida pronounced that she no longer required to check on her, and the danger had passed. She and Farren headed home again, lead to the river by Tosca. Frida said her goodbye and then crossed. Farren turned to Tosca and gave her a smile. "So I guess I'll see you around?" he asked.

Tosca grinned and nodded.
"Maybe if you come around the river in the middle of the night" she replied slyly. "Thanks again for helping Kai"
Tosca gave Farren a quick nuzzle, then stepped away a bit awkwardly.
"See you around..."

Farren shifted his feet a little. "Yeah, I think I will sneak out. I've gotten good at it." he chuckled. His eyes met Tosca's and for a moment the whole world seemed to drop away and it was just the two of them. Taken by a sudden and unexpected force, he leaned in closely, almost without thinking, and kissed her gently.

At first Tosca was surprised, but she'd known long ago that she felt the same way Farren did. Tosca felt her face grow hot and stepped clumsily away. Although she'd always seemed to be prepared and unemotional for all other situations, she'd never been in a situation like that.
"I guess I'll see you..." Tosca laughed dimly, unaware that Frida had seen the whole thing across the river.

The tan she wolf looked on with shock, and more than just a little concern. "Ares should know of this..." she muttered to herself. Such a thing as what she'd seen could affect the future of their pack. Farren crossed the river, a small smile still on his face, and the two returned home. Frida said nothing of what she had seen, and when they arrived, she went strait to the third cave entrance and asked to see Ares.
