Rainstorm nodded, taking all the kits by the csruffs in her mouth. She managed to get all three. THey mewled piteously, and she quickly hurried to camp.

Silverclae picked her two kits up and scurried to camp.

Rainstorm winced as she entered the camp, no cat awake yet, except the guard. He looked at her wide eyed, but didn't speak, being a new warrior, and it still being night. Her mouth ached as she carried the kits, some cats now emerging from their dens to see what the piteous mewling was about.

Tabbystar rose from her den and glanced at Rainstorm. Her eyes widened and hurried over to her. "Rainstorm. My den. Now." she said.

Silverclaw crept into her camp, the kits meowing loudly awaking some cats.

RAinstorm followed the leader into her den, the kits still hanging from her mouth.

"Set them down." Tabbystar commanded.

Silverclaw's eyes shifted around the camp, frustereated on what to do.

Leafstar padded out to the mewling of kits, her eyes widening as she saw two small kits dangling from the female warrior's mouth.

Rainstorm obliged her, setting down the kits gently on the ground next to her.

Silverclaw's eyes met Leafstars.

"Where did you get them?" Tabbystar demanded.

"I-They were near the border. I found them while hunting," she siad, willing her voice not to falter.


Leafstar's eyes narrowed. "Silverclaw? What are these?"

"Hunting? In the middle of the night?" Tabbystar said.

"Kits, Leaftstar." Silverclaw said. "I woke up in the middle of the night after a dream I had... and well I heard mewing and so I had to get up and see what it was and I saw these."

Rainstorm nodded, shifted her paws nervously. "Yeah. I couldn't sleep, so..." she said, breaking off at the end.

Leafstar's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "How close where they to the camp/" she aske.d

"You know this is a rough time for us." Tabbystar said.

"Right behind the warrior den."

"I know...I just couldn't leave them out there! THat's against the code," she said. So is lying to the leader, she chided herself silently.


Leafstar was even more suspicious. "SOme of the other warrior's would've been woken too then," she said.

Tabbystar squinted at her. "Rainstorm, nobody hunts at night. Not even StarClan." she said. "Not even twolegs, even though they're so odd."

"Everyone was sound alseep." Silverclaw said. "I've always been a light sleeper."

"They do if they can't sleep!" she said.


Leafstar's green eyes were still narrowed. "We'll talk more later. Go to the nursery and see if anyone will nurse them," she said.
