hehe, even better you can ask your library to order it and not watching it.. then you won't waste your money (unless you wan't to).. .. so I caught a few minutes of this at a video store about a week ago.. I so agree with you Cat, on the "younger "designs of Kate and Humphrey.. didn't seem that much time had passed between them seeing each other again after Kate's "Alpha Training".. hmmm.. and the animation reminded me of Open Season 2, while the story was o.k (not super great but I somewhat enjoyed it a little more than the original.. ) the animation was a bit subpar to the original.. yeah, DTV animation on the big screen for Omega that's for sure.. .. though it's almost a bit weird there's no Soundtrack, no Books, no Toys available in the U.S for this movie.. yikes.. even Balto had a little bit more than this..

So I finally actually saw this movie (little brother dragged it into the house). Well, Its... what I expected it to be. I put it on par with the sequels. In my opinion it started horribly, but improved slowly throughout. Still, certainly not a movie I intend to watch again. Sitll, not the worst movie I've ever seen. That title is still held by Open Water, the worlds worst shark movie

I just watched it. The beginning could've used some work, but as the story went on, I found myself liking it much more. I grew to like everyone, particularally Garth, who I hated at first, but he grew a lot in the story along with Lilly.
However, one character I really liked was Eve, she was probably one of my favorite parts of the entire movie, particularally with her 'talk' to Kate about what to do if Garth gets out of line on their date...

^ Yeah, though his character grew during the process as well.
Also, there is a sequal in the works, they got the (surviving) cast to return, always a plus.

A sequel? Oh no. I watched A&O again the other day just to see if my impressions would be any different after a few months since my initial viewing. They weren't. It's a terrible movie with a small number of bright spots scattered around. It wanders, the storytelling is bad, it's unfocused, and as a number of people here have noticed, the relationship and the characters of Lilly and Garth are more interesting than the main characters.
I think it needs to be said again how bad the animation is too. The modeling aside (they REALLY do not look like wolves), the animation is equally terrible for the most part. When all the wolves are excited about the upcoming wedding, look at how a bunch of them are... I don't even know what to call it. Hopping? Stuttering? It's bizarre, whatever it is.
Mostly, as I've said before, I'm annoyed that it isn't better. It's a mediocre movie, and I really just wanted it to be a GOOD movie. There are a couple bright spots in it, but they're rare and it could have been so much better. I really think a sequel is a bad idea, since they're going to put even less effort into it.

I figured there'd be mixed reaction, you're entitled to your opinion of course, just make sure to keep in mind there are quite a few people who actually like this movie a lot and don't think its a horrible movie.

There actually is an soundtrack for Alpha and Omega. I found it in the iTunes store. There's about 20 tracks on there and they're listed in sequence as the appear in the film. erm.. yeah, but I'm more of a CD person than an Itunes person.. oh well, I don't have a comp at home so that doesn't help..

I personally didn't notice the jumpy animation. With computer anims that shouldn't happen much. However I found the models realitively revolting. I could model a more preportionate dolphin with my CAD program, and that is NOT intended for biology. Aside from that, I was not a fan of the story at all. I felt like the quality improved late in the game, but certainly not to a Balto level. In the beginning both my 7 year old brother and I could say nothing but wait- what?
Also, heh, goose characterized to a nationality stereotype? Where have I seen that before.
At least with Boris his species was acctually Russian

Ah, yeah I didn't mean the animation itself was jumpy, I meant the wolves were sort of hopping and stuttering around on purpose. Like the animators actually made them do that. It's hard to describe, but watch the part again just after Kate had returned to Jasper and announced that she would marry Garth to unite the tribes. She then talks to Humphrey and walks away, surrounded by these bizarrely hopping wolves. It's just one of a lot of really awful choices the producers made, i.e. the modeling. Wolves (and dogs) show excitement in a lot of ways, with their ears and tails and posture, not to mention play bowing, but instead of showing it that way, they made them.. hop around. It's very weird.

Ah, now I know what your talking about. Not sure why. It's obvious that biology and physics were ignored. In Balto important characters are more or less anatomically correct, and physics was only stretched a few times, but minorly (ie. The bottles mimicing the Aurora, the flipping of Balto's ice chunk, and his survival of the fall). In AoA physical laws were completely abandoned. The whole film looks like it occurs under lunar gravity with the atmospheric density of Venus. The shotgun tears a hole in the chain link fence. Kind of minor, but having fired several different types of shotgun loads at several differant types of targets I can assure you it wouldn't even come close. One of those little things that bugs me as a Physnerd. And many, many more errors
