"That's horrible," Sonya said, concern and worry coating her voice. "Why would he do something like that?"
Rose perked up an ear, interested in Sonya's interest of Dustin's life.

"Because he needed money...? I don't know." He shrugged. "I did it because it was how I was raised and trained.." He shook his head slowly. The taste of gunpowder was strong, as he delved up memories unwanted.

Sonya looked at Dustin with concern. "I don't know how humans can be so heartless as to throw dogs into a cage and expect them to kill each other. What do they think we are? Mindless killing machines?"

"I don't know..." He shook his head hard. "It doesn't matter now. I'm gonna go look for a new life after Katie patches me up. Get myself outta Rose's pelt for once. Been buggin' her since I was a pup."

"You got that right," Rose said, rolling over in her bed. "You'll always be a pup to me, though."
"But you can't just go out on your own," Sonya said right before she was pushed aside by Katie, who wrapped Dustin's back leg tightly so the bones would eventually heal back into place. "There you go, Dust," Katie said, patting Dustin on the head. "All fixed up."

"I've been going back out since the first time I burrowed into Rose's pelt." He grinned, licking Katies' hand. "I guess ill be ok." He nodded to Rose and jumped off the couch. "Bye."

He turned and licked Sonya's muzzle. "Soon?" He arched a brow, ears relaxed, ready to run if Rose lunged.

Sonya smiled. "Sure," she said.
"Dustin, would you get outta here, already," Rose growled, ready to pounce him if he took on more step toward Sonya.

He gave her a nuzzle. "Aww.. Is Rose gonna beat me?..." His puppish deamenor was back. He walked around Sonya and whispered in her ear - "Tonight. By the River?" A smile crossed his face.

"I said get outta here!" Rose shouted, standing up and running between Dustin and Sonya. She growled at Dustin.
Sonya, out of Rose's eye-sight, nodded to Dustin, knowing that if he didn't get out soon, Rose was going to drag him out by his tail.

Sonya waited for Rose to fall asleep before silently walking out the doggie door that was installed in the back door. It was only after she had taken a few steps outside that she realized she had no idea where she was going. She had just arrived in town and didn't know where anything was. And it was dark. She wondered into the woods, which looked like a promising spot for a river, but git lost fairly quickly.

He heard leaves crunching behind him. "Sonya!" He barked, standing up and loping to the sound.
