You know you're from Texas when you see a random horse racing a pick-up truck.

You know you are from Pennsylvania when someone says 1972, you think "Agnes," and when someone says 1979, you think "TMI."

You know you're in Wisconsin when lunatic protesters raid your doors, and break all morality from the Constitution.

You know you're from Wisconsin when there's only two legitimate seasons. Either your teeth is chattering from the benumbing cold, or your skin is melting off your bones from the scorching heat.

Ooh ooh! I'm all over this topic. And really, if I can indulge everyone (and my fellow Jersey members, even though I'm now in the process of moving to Virginia), I'd like to add a few (these have been seen on other such lists...several of them anyway...a couple are mine):

You know you're from New Jersey when...

...no one goes to "the beach", they go to "the shore"

...you know that most residents of the state don't actually don't actually live anywhere near a freakin' turnpike exit

...you know that the word "Piney" doesn't refer to a tree (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piney_%28Pine_Barrens_resident%29)

...you realize that the only people who call the state "Joisey" are from southeastern New York (and the city)

...you live within a 20-minute drive of at least one, possibly two shopping malls

...you refer to H2O as "wudder" or "wawter", not "wahter"

...you cringe at the stereotypical inaccuracies of shows like "Jersey Shore" and "Jerseylicious" (which more befit New York city than anywhere in New Jersey)

...you know the state is not one big stinky oil refinery

...you ever went to school with someone named "Tony" or "Maria"

...you know what a "jug handle" is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jughandle)

...you know what "jimmies" are (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jimmies - scroll down to #5)

...when someone asks you where you live, you say "I'm from north Jersey/central Jersey/south Jersey"

...you know what "tomato pie" is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato_pie - the one photo on this page does NOT do the stuff justice...though the flavor sensation of real tomato pie puts any pizza to shame!)

This is long. Is that a good thing? I even shortened it! I also left notes on some.

You might be a Michigander ...

* My own*

... if snow tires come standard on all your cars.

... if at least 50% of your relatives work for the auto industry. <--One of my uncles worked at Ford

... if owning a Japanese car was a hanging offense in your home town. <--They should be driving Ford.

... if you learned to pilot a boat before the training wheels were off your bike. <-- I failed my boating test in the 6th grade, (like 2 answers wrong, not that I would ever drive a boat anyway  ) and I learned how to ride a bike without training wheels when I was little.

... if you point at the palm of your right hand when telling people where you grew up.

... if "Down South" to you means Toledo.

... if you refer to your relatives in southern Michigan as "trolls". <-- I am a troll.

... if you have no problem spelling Mackinac Island.

... if you have as many Canadian coins in your pockets as American ones. <--Tends to happen when you use a vending machine.

... if you bake with "soda" and drink "pop".

... if you can name all 5 of the Great Lakes, and point to their locations around your left and right hands.

... if you had Tornado Drills in elementary school. <--You have to live in Michigan for that? And yes, I did.

... if you know all the words to Gordon Lightfoot's classic ballad, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" <--Maybe not by heart, but I had that song stuck in my head when I went to the shipwreck museum. I swear they know no other song! I've also seen the bell, does that count? Song--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vST6hVRj2A

... if you have more miles on your snow blower than your car.

... if you've taken your kids trick-or-treating in a blizzard. <-- It's normally cold, windy and raining.

... if driving is better in the winter because the potholes get filled with snow.

... if the local paper covers national and international headlines on l/4 page, but requires 6 pages for sports. <--I HATE sports! Don't be stereotypical!

... if your snow blower gets stuck on the roof. <--The snow killed ours.

... if you find -20F a little chilly. <--Yup, so true!

... if the trunk of your car doubles as a deep freezer. <--What if you have a van?

... if shoveling the driveway constitutes a great upper body workout.

... if you know the 4 seasons: Winter, Still Winter, Almost Winter, and Construction. <-- They never finish the construction!

... if you instinctively walk like a penquin for five months out of the year.

... if you have worn shorts and a coat at the same time. <-- It once, snowed, rained, stormed, sleeted, hailed, all in one day.

... if "vacation" means going up north on I-75.

... if you often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

... if you can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.

... if down South to you means Ohio.

... if a brat is something you eat.

... if your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new pole barn.

... if your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost.

... if you know what a Yooper is.

... if you know that UP is a place, not a direction.

... if you know it's possible to live in a thumb.
