LMAO!!! The writers are on strike, and you can tell just how essential they are when they came out with AVP 2... Man, I thought the first one was okay. At least it had a sensible story with background to justify some of the things done to...err...the poor victims. So at the end, it was a pretty mediocre movie with a proportional amount of plot, action, senseless gore, and plain running and screaming for your life...
But I'm afraid the sequal had me very much disappointed in thinking that it would bring up the series. And yes...I have proof:
1.) Correct me if I'm wrong...but the title was "ALIENS vs. PREDATOR," was it not? The movie was approximately an hour and a half long, but I only got about thirty minutes worth of the actual fighting I came to see. I don't know about you guys, but seeing some "hotshot" teenager who enjoys flirting with a clock deliver pizza was the LAST thing I came to see. Only about 30 minutes of it was actual fighting between ALENS and PREDATORS. The rest of it was just...unnecessary. XD
2.) They killed young people in the movie -- Babies too. WTF?! Do they honestly think that by putting stuff like that in there, kids these days will just think it's a good movie? It's horrible, and what's worse, there's no reason why they should've been killed. Sure, sure. Babies and young kids...the epitome of innocence. But you can literally tell what the Alien was thinking: "Whew!! Managed to dodge that nurse. Oh, but don't worry, I'll get to her soon enough. Let's see...err...what room am I in again? Oh, look!! Babies!! *snack* snack*" No. Oh yeah...and they killed homeless people too....for god'sake, leave the homeless people alone!!
3.) In spite of a vivid exposition, the beginning got boring real fast. But I was willing to forgive it. The "story" to AVP 2 consisted of multiple, but separate storylines, each with a different group of people (The little girl and her family, the pizza guy convict and his brother, the mindless cops with the search party, and the group of school bullies with that girl to name a few). Eventually, the storylines all converge into one, where all the survivors band together, each having a reason for acting a certain way. That said, I don't understand why they would just terminate someone so easily. Here the producers are...spending about the first 45 minutes of the movie developing everyone's story, only to have them die in the snap of a finger. Take the blonde girl, for instance. There's an entire sequence where she's undressing in front of the pizza guy...the next thing you know, she's tacked to the wall. It's like, they drew names out of a hat to see who would die next. IT'S COMPLETELY MINDLESS!!! There's some guy walking down a street. Five minutes later, he's in pieces on the floor. It's like, "Mmm....Okay. Sucks to be him -- MOVING ON!!" What I'm trying to get at is, there was too much unessary gore and unjustified deaths. UNJUSTIFIED!!! People die for reasons too, you know. Aliens just don't pop out of nowhere. In another example...you know how the predator liquidated all...err..MOST evidence of their presence? It kind of makes you wonder hoe stupid it must've felt once things got out of hand. In the previous AVP movie, there were four Predators sent to eradicate just a pyramid full of Aliens. Now, an entire city was put in peril, and only one Predator answered the call. I suppose it was the only one that cared. Lol. And I mean that in the worst possible way.
4.) I was deeply turned off by the ending, I felt like weeping for my money because of it. NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!! You do not just send the nuclear warhead!!!!! Okay...first off, you need some sort of presidential lamentation. An unknown general does not simply give an order to wipe out an entire town, and not feel sorry for it. Is this movie DELIBERATELY trying to turn me anti-American? In sending a bomb to destroy everything, I kind of feel that as cheating your way out for an ending. Some people must've been pretty desperate. Sure....just WIPE THE SLATE CLEAN!! The ending was poorly planned, sorrowfully unoriginal, and just plain illogical. As stated earlier...much of the story was developing plot...and in the blink of an eye...all of it was for naught. If everyone's going to die, let's just tag behind only those who are important -- that is...those who are actually TRYING to make an effort to survive. The woman from the military was smart....but apparently not that much. She just told them the general was lying. After that, she was pretty much. "Eh, don't say I didn't warn you."
--------TO SUM IT UP:-------
As a story developer myself, I felt deeply, dEePlY, DEEPLY offended by the poor structure of how this movie was put together. It was all mindless killing, blood and gore, and much too much screaming and running to nowhere. The reasons behind many of the character deaths remain unjustified and illogical. There were constant throwing offs of tangents to the main storyline, and soon, the entire audience forgot that there was any story to begin with. My views of watching a movie in any such genre have now been tainted with the horrible efforts put into this one. I can actually name people who are actually capable of putting together a more convincing horror sci-fi flick.
I regret it not if I spoiled it for anyone...I actually saved you money. It's just that I got so angry watching this movie...Heh heh.

West Side Story. If you've seen it, you'll know why.

Dinosaur - depressing Land Before Time rip-off. The story is essentially the same as Bluth's dinosaur flick minus the charm.

XP It's really hard to like a character that you know is intentionally based off another you previously loved. Some things in that movie just...offended me. XD

Pearl Harbor. An absolute insult to the true event. The directors seem to have fallen into the cliché of 'Wanna portray a historically important event? Make it a love story!' Unfortunately, that's already been done with Titanic, which actually made an effort to stay accurate to what actually happened. Heck, even my favourite comedy (Blackadder Goes Forth) pays more respect to history than Pearl Harbor!
