Snippet III was amazing! Please post more! (Amazing in that I can't stand not being able to read more! XD) Really? You liked the third one? GAHHHHH. (Thanks!) If you've read the first ACT of the story on the site, I hinted this day arriving rather soon near the end . . . However, I'll admit that Rotramel's works also used this tactic as well . . . (if you've read the two pieces of his Aniu Trilogy, it is mentioned there as well! I wanted to use this in order to add more drama to Balto's so-called normal life and family (not as if incest, revivals and death are considered as "normal" . . . LOL), as well as to soon connect his personal struggles to the difficult battles about to be fought in the Talbourne Clan. I'm just a sucker for drama, aren't I?), I felt necessary to borrow them for this epic tale. Plus, ACT III will offer the return of characters that have already been majorly featured in RTW's fictions, but I'll keep my lips sealed on this one, okay? - Juuchan17

UPDATE: 3/20/09
Ho snap, have I been gone for that long?
Well, I might as well have some quick updates for you guys, especially about a certain Valentine's Day fanfiction . . . .
Sparkle = on hiatus?: Well, that is true. I am having a case of writer's block with the final act, so don't hold your breath for it, okay? I promise, I will finish it soon!
Other fics?: Well, I've been working with my school classes right now, so not much work on other fics right now. Maybe once school ends in May, I may have something posted again. I have been working little by little on my Muru backstory, "Destiny of the Small," as well as my RTW-universe-based epic, "Jadze: The Blessed Curse" and my Balto tribute to the Bard, "StarCrossed." (Best guess is that the next ACT of "StarCrossed" will be finished sooner than I think!)
Uh, other than that, I have a couple of oneshots that may be quickly written, but I'll offer no guarantees. Look for them soon!
Until next time . . .

I'm looking forward to Act III of Sparkle, as well as any other one-shots you might dream up. But, alas, classes come before fanfics (unless you're lucky enough to be a professional writer, but then they wouldn't be FANfics, would they? >:3). As LWF said, good luck with the classes...and the fics!

Skulblaka_Shur'tugal wrote: So, how close are you to finishing part III of "Jadze"? That's not an easy question to answer . . . Actually, I've sort of put it on the backburner for now, but I have a couple of chapters done of Pt. III . . . so I might have to post chapters. Also, I have gotten silly little one-shots in my head, so I'm working on a quickie called "A Lesson Learned" . . . Hmm, I think I have a snippet for you, if you'd like: A LESSON LEARNED snippet wrote: There were just two dogs in the clearing by the sea. The sky was bright, filled with sunny yellow rays and sheen-white clouds that just seemed to hover over the shoreline and the nearby village called Nome, Alaska by the humans, but unlike the horizon, the canines were silent as they walked slowly, the she-dog moving faster than the other.
Finally, words were exchanged, loudly breaking the peaceful silence.
"I hate you!" She barked with an obvious growl in her tone. "I . . . HATE . . . YOU!"
The other dog, a much older male with various shades of gray fur, gasped in shock by her reaction. "But it's just the way things are. I can't change that." He sighed deeply, completely frustrated. His medium-gray ears lowered sadly as his ocean-pooled eyes gazed at the amber she-dog in front of him. "Oh, why do you hate me so? You used to be so well-behaved and loving. What went wrong?"
The child didn't respond back with words; instead, she appeared rather aloof, lifting her muzzle away from the one that denied her freedom. It was like she told him, "Oh, you already know why . . . and what happened to me. Don't act so stupid."
The male sighed, moving closer to the female in an attempt to nuzzle her gently, but she could easily sense him. Instinctively, she jerked away from him, her neck fur bristling angrily.
"Don't touch me, Daddy!" She spun around, lowering herself as if to attack him with her claws. "I'm not in the mood for you to be playing soft with me!"
"Sweetie, I . . . I don't want you get mad with me," the father tried to explain. His child was only the youngest of four, and despite being over a year old and old enough to take care of herself, he and his mate were unsure what else they could do except watch over her until she became successful and had a happy life. "Your mother and I . . . we just want to protect you, that's all."
"I'm old enough to make my own choices, you know," the daughter striked back. "You can't watch over me forever!"
"I know . . . We both know that. It's just that . . ." The father paused for a moment, letting a deep breath out of his wet nose and long-muzzled mouth. ". . . You're the youngest one, Meri. It's a dangerous world out there . . ."
"Now, how would I know that?" Meri rebuttaled, leaning her face close to her father's. "Oh, that's right - you and Mom never let me to explore what's out there! To you guys, everything is dangerous." She let out an annoyed huff. "Lily, Richie and Jill can do whatever they what and go anywhere, so why can't I?"
"Because . . ." He started to hesitate with his own thoughts, unsure of exactly what to say.
She already knows why, the father thought. She was the runt of our litter, our precious little girl. Posey and I saw her weak legs from the day she was born, and we knew that there were to be some things that Meri just would never be able to do, even with our help.
At last, the words came out. "Your brother and sisters are sled dogs, and we just feel that it's far too risky for you to try."
"But I do want to try, I do want to learn!" She tried to explain, almost to the point of pleading her heart out. "I'm a dog too, just like them . . . just like you! Just because I'm weaker and my legs aren't as strong as the others doesn't mean I don't deserve a fair chance! I mean, . . . maybe I could learn more if I did things on my own--"
"Not a chance, Meri."
"But . . . but, Daddy . . ."
"No buts, young lady," the male said sternly. "I've seen what's it's like out there, and I chose not to continue down that path. Besides, you'll hurt yourself on your own, and I won't let anything happen to you. Now, you are to remain here in town with your mother and not leave her sight until I return home, understood?"
The daughter was silented by her father's harsh punishment. Meri could only growl, tears beginning to swell in her dark-brown eyes. "You . . . you . . ." She shut her eyes, allowing the tears to stain her cheeks and drip onto the sand near her paws. ". . . you just don't understand . . . and you never will . . ."The yearling finally managed to murmur amidst her sadness, her head leaned low. " . . . I hate you . . ." With a slight leap, she ran off towards town, not daring to look back. I'm not sure what I was thinking with this one, but all I can say is that this IS a Balto story. (Yes, it sounds like something we've seen/read/heard/whatever before, right?) Later, you guys - got a paper to work on! - Juuchan17

That's why it's a One-Shot. XD Anyway, there's a reason why it sounds like it is Balto and Aleu, but I'm afraid I'll have to leave you guys hanging on that for now! Perhaps after my Final Exams for this semester are done (in two weeks! yay), I'll have more time to post more fics for you all, okay? Thanks! - Juuchan17

UPDATE: 5/20/09 Sorry I haven't been on here recently . . . my other fandoms are calling. (they like to tug on mah tail. and it HURTS.) Actually, I have posted up the first part of ACT III of "Jadze", so check it out NOW! It's a SHOCKER, but if you've read RTW's fics, this is a bit expected. I'm still finishing up "I Remember Keliah", but look for the finished link soon. That and some other one-shot stuff like "A Lesson Learned" and "Eden's Secret". . . . *sigh* And I hate to say this, but I think I'm slowly starting to lose interest in Balto right now. Of course, this means I may not be online as much as I used to or update as often. (I'll still drop by to do my MOD duties on site, but maybe like . . . once or twice a week . . . so don't worry about that.) I hope you guys can understand . . . TT___TT . . . I just might take the whole summer off from Balto, although I don't really want to. - Juuchan17

It's okay; we all understand.
But we're still writing Camp Togo, right?

I know what I want, but it's just getting a bit brain-fartsy at the moment. I should have it by the end of the month if I can break this phase, okay? Thanks for your comments, you guys. - Juuchan17

UPDATE: 5/26/09 Thought I might as well make a quick update (because it's HOT here and I'm completely bored off my butt). Well, "I Remember Keliah" is now my main fic focus (because I now know where it's going!). It's just about finished and I hope to have the entire fic on site within a couple of week's work. (26 pages thus far . . . and it's probably about 2/3 of the way done. I'm getting to the climax right about now!) Here's another quick snippet for you to enjoy: I Remember Keliah SNIPPET wrote: “Aleu?” Scarlet’s voice called out into her ear. “Hello? Earth to Aleu!” He waved a white paw over her closed eyes. “Wake up . . . hey!”
Letting out a loud gasp, Aleu’s eyes quickly opened, turning to Scarlet’s as she panted to catch her breath.
“Ah, um . . . A . . . A-A-Aleu . . . w-w-what’s wrong with your . . . e-e-eyes?” the reddish-brown wolf asked, completely stunned by what he was seeing.
Her eyes were a bright golden sheen, just as they had been a month ago when she first caught a glimpse of the caribou crossing the Great Water. She couldn’t explain what she was actually seeing; it was flashing past her eyes so quickly that it seemed to blur together, but it ended within a few seconds after Scarlet panicked, leaving Aleu to shake the feeling off.
“What . . . What just happened to you? Are you all right?” Scarlet whined with a worry once her eyes returned to their usual blue and gold.
“I think I may have had another vision or something,” Aleu told him to the point. “I’m not sure.”
“About Keliah?”
She shook her head. “No, I don’t think so. The pictures were moving too fast for me to notice the specifics. It was like a flash . . . but this isn’t the first time I’ve had these types of visions.”
“Really?” Scarlet was intrigued by Aleu’s ability, his eyes wide in awe by the mystical power of those he knew. “How was it in the previous times?”
“Well, the first time was when a bear attacked me and my Papa,” she explained. “I don’t know what exactly was going on, but I just looked at the bear’s golden eyes . . . and I could somehow see what the bear was thinking. It pointed out a nearby ledge under a cliff, saying that I had to take a leap of faith to get to the place I was looking for. Thankfully, the bear’s advice was right, and Papa and I landed safely.”
“Amazing,” Scarlet murmured. “It must not have been an ordinary bear to have not killed you both.”
“I couldn’t catch its scent after I came to moments after jumping,” Aleu continued. “I had never seen a real grizzly up close before, but Papa was surprised by my recollection of what happened. But that wasn’t the last time I could see things like this.” She paused, still noticing that she had Scarlet’s attention. “When Nava was talking to both of us after he emerged from that tree near the sea, I had another one of these . . . I guess you could call them ‘flashed-visions’. I could see the caribou that he was talking about, leaping from one ice floe to another and just heading to a bright light. I didn’t understand what was going on, but I remembered hearing Nava say, “Each of us has a unique gift.’ It wasn’t until after I received another dream that night about the ice bridge and the caribou that I figured that these visions could be my gift – my own special ability that could help show me where I belonged.”
“Hmm,” Scarlet pondered for a moment. “Very interesting.”
“What?” Aleu’s ears pricked up. “What is?”
His brown stare was completely drawn into her eyes at the moment. There was something about those mysteriously, beautiful eyes that looked like no other he had ever seen. “Oh, it’s nothing,” the red wolf shook his head, smiling rather sheepishly at his own thoughts that he was so embarrassed to speak about aloud to her himself. He looked out at the sky in front of them, noticing how late it is. “Oh, my gosh . . . You’re going to be late to the morning hunt! I’m so sorry for keeping you, Aleu!”
“Huh?” Aleu had been so entranced by her dream and talking to the one she loved that all time seemed to have been forgotten, but she finally realized how high the sun was in the skies – it was above the trees near their caves, brightly warming the wolves that were gathering to hunt below them. The familiar light-silver she-wolf noticed Aleu’s surprised gaze and howled a soft howl as she flashed a smile. “Oh, the hunt! I forgot all about it!” She stood up, rushing past Scarlet and close to the opening where her hunting party waited for her. “I’m sorry, can we talk later? I’ve got to go.”
“Sure,” Scarlet grinned sweetly. “Good luck with the hunt, Aleu.”
“Thanks.” Nodding quickly, she took a leap from her den and made her way down to where Lorna and a medium-sized team of wolves patiently awaited her command. Scarlet, on the other hand, just looked down at them, keeping his focus on the gray-brown quarter-wolf that he loved so much.
“O Aniu, please watch after her as always,” he prayed as Aleu took charge of her team and began their trek into the woods past the river. “Aleu is learning more and more every day as our Alpha, and I pray that in time, she will understand what you are telling her through these dreams.” His ears fell worriedly. “I don’t know what it is either, but I hope this information you’re sending her will change her for the better. I know Father has made a real difference in her life . . . and I still miss him . . .” Thinking of his former Alpha, tears began to drip from his eyes, causing him to drop to the ground and cry softly at the memory of his Clan patriarch.
She reminds me of him . . . and I don’t know why . . .
Ooh, suspense. It's not spoiling anything really, but so far it's turning out to be quite an awesome ONE-SHOT piece. I might also post this on my DeviantArt once it's done, so I'll post links to both copies. ( Warning: I've got lots of random stuff on there. You were warned.) Other than that, I've been busy with other things . . . life, finding a job, and this pre-summer heat wave. GAH. Later, you guys. - Juuchan17
