This, actually, is another shot from the previous set, showing a flowering tree growing wild in a patch of woods near where I live. And being beautifully highlighted by the sun. 2. Saw a snail on the property yesterday... 3. ...and took this extra photo to give some comparison of size. That's a U.S. quarter (-dollar), in case anyone's interested. Big snail! Don't usually see 'em this big on land. Not in my area... 4. Detail of some seed pods (or something) on a tree on the property...always struck me as rather interesting. Tried finding a good angle to photograph the stuff. Not sure I managed it or not. 5. And the tree that previous shot is from... 6. A cardinal's nest, w/three brown-speckled eggs. I know this is a cardinal's nest because I saw mom in there repeatedly...she spooked every time I happened by. Her and her mate's fault, though. lol They built the nest in a holly bush right up against the house. I've made sure not to pass by too much, to give her a break (and so she won't abandon the nest), but she makes quite the protest, after dashing off, whenever I do. But I had to snap a picture of the nest while I could! Happily, she's still tending. Silly bird. Awesome photos as usual! Me likes the snail xD No name though. lol Great photos, Jersey!

A few new ones for everyone's edification... (Seems like southeastern Virginia is in the midst of a wildlife explosion lately. lol Not that I mind...hell, it's pretty cool actually. I've seen and heard all KINDS of stuff...some of which is new to me, and some of which is quite rare. The rest? Well, I've seen as much of it in my years in New Jersey, and my travels, as down here in Virginia.) Got the photographic drop on this young whitetail deer (a "young buck" ) yesterday evening while he was casually grazing along a roadside in my neighborhood...he looked at me for a second, and then thought it might be better to dash away from that very dangerous little camera poking out of the automobile window. Heh... A juvenile five-lined skink ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plestiodon_fasciatus) that has been hanging out around the house. I guess there's good hunting. Head-on and from the side. Check out that colorful tail! He was rather skittish, ducking under a drain pipe for cover, but I eventually managed to get him to calm down enough to let me snap a few shots. These are the best two of the series...

Then that makes it an old faded Crayola.

Roi, yeah, and that was zoomed in as far as my camera can go through glass. Plus, these are photoshopped, so I did sharpen them a bit and gave them more color.

And the shots you got are amazing! He's quite a beautiful fellow. Thanks. lol Well, it took a heck of a lot of patience, and several trips up and down stairs to keep him from skittering off into the grass and the woods. I felt like Jeff Corwin or Steve Irwin or something. Ha! ****** Weird, bearing on what I said earlier about a wildlife explosion in southeastern Virginia, I was driving to get dinner tonight from one of the local Chinese/Japanese restaurants, and as I drove past a lake, wouldn't you know there was a snapping turtle working on crossing the street? It was a quiet neighborhood street, so it was in very little danger (and, in fact, upon my return trip, I saw no sign of him, so he clearly made it across). But dang it, I didn't have my camera with me! GAH!

Sakujo wrote: Wow, there are some pretty nature captures! I love this lizard, JC, it's so cute xD lol Thanks. He was a lot of fun to try and capture with the camera. After getting my shots, I left him alone. Actually, I tried to feed him a little chicken while trying to calm him down. Held it in my open palm near him. He sniffed the air with his tongue, and then turned his nose up at it. lol So much for that. Though there are plenty of websites expounding upon the virtues of capturing five-lined skinks and keeping them as pets. It suggests they tame easily and make good pets when kept humanely. I just let this little guy go on his way though. Sakujo wrote: There are my photos from Egypt... Now those are amazing! I have always wanted to get to Egypt...as I love the ancient history of that country! But its the sectional violence there, especially upon the Coptic Christians by Muslim gangs, that has me concerned. Plus tourists are not always safe, I hear... (Incidentally, I love that new avatar. lol)

One of our trips was canceled because of the fights, but besides soldiers everywhere, we didn't see a sign of any local fights during all the trip. Only thing that was really really horribly annoying were salesmen... Ugh... That's why I would never go there if not those amazing ancient temples...
Lawl, thanks xD

Only thing that was really really horribly annoying were salesmen... Ugh... That's why I would never go there if not those amazing ancient temples... You ought to go to Mexico sometime and see how it is at Chichen Itza. The grand Mayan temple complex. It is overrun with modern Mayans and Mexicans whom the government there allows to sell their wares which, you find out after careful analysis, are not THEIR wares at all, but mass-produced garbage meant to give them something to make money off of. At an archaeological site. *Face desk* It was quite annoying. Perhaps, though, I shall post some of my pics from my trip there sometime soon. The place was amazing...aside from those trying to hawk wares they didn't create (even though they pretended to be working on some).
