"So we have to wait here until night time?" Pascal asked, horrified at the idea of spending one more second there.

"Sorry, Pascal," Rue murmured. "If I could get us out of here any sooner, I would."

Suddenly, two men and one woman in bleach-white lab coats entered the hall where the cages remained, and as they passed, one of the men, a short one with slicked-back hair and glasses, stopped before the birdkids' set. "By God in Heaven!" he exclaimed. "Are these what I think they are?"
The other man, a tall one with stark-blue eyes and dark goatee, responded, "These are our subjects for the evening, Reynolds. Just came in today." he gave a cruel smile at Pascal, who stared back at him, as if in an intense staring contest. Without another word, the goatee man gestured to the woman, who had mocha-colored skin and smoothly-braided hair, and she came forward, grabbing the sides of Pascal's cage and dumping it on a boxcart that was parked against the wall.
The short man dumped both Lark's and Kara's cages on it as well, causing Lark to tumble into another uncomfortable position. The goatee man swiftly lifted Rue's cage, whispering to her, "Let the games begin." as he threw her cage on top of Pascal's.
"Where are we going?" Pascal demanded of the short man, but he only smiled. "I'm scared..." he whispered to Rue, who was above him.
"We'll be okay." Lark reassured, hoping, pleading to God that he was right, as the boxcart was rolled away through a pair of massive double-doors.

Rue glared at Goatee Man in response. She was about to reply with a scathing retort, but she was dropped on top of Pascal's crate and ended up biting her tongue hard instead. Her glare hardened, and she gritted her teeth. "Lark's right. We'll be fine," she said, trying to convince herself just as much as she was trying to convince him.

Through the doors revealed a huge room with a low ceiling, and the room contained a massive tube-tunnel that forked into three smaller tunnels. "Oh boy." Lark groaned as he witnessed some other whitecoats standing around with clipboards. He had no idea what to expect.
Pascal concentrated as hard as he could to tap into what the scientists were thinking. Most of it was about them, but he picked up some information about the test. "Guys." Pascal whispered without moving his lips too much. "Guys, this is a reasoning test. We go down that main tube, and then each branch leads to a different place in the courtyard of the School. One leads to an electric field, where we'll get shocked if we go down that one, and that's all I can get from the whitecoats in here. Oh, and we won't know which path leads where."
Suddenly, the goatee man flung open the door to Lark's cage and, despite his efforts to keep him away, the man snapped a heavy, steel ring around his neck. "What the-" he began, but was interrupted by the goatee man. "Fly away and see what happens." Crap. he thought. What were they going to do now?

Unable to stop them, the same ring went around Rue's neck. They would probably shock them or something if they tried to escape. Dang it, she thought, scowling at the whitecoats. Unease started to brew within her as she stared down the large tube-like structure. What all was in store for them?

"Bring them over." commanded an older whitecoat with a clipboard, no expression on his face. "It's time."
Ooc:// Feel free to play any of the whitecoats, lol.

One of the whitecoats held a pen ready, anticipation lighting her cold, curious eyes. "Start the test." A nod from one of her partners came in response, and he pressed a few buttons at a nearby computer. "Ready," he called.
Rue clenched and unclenched her fists, the only outward sign of worry. She wanted to open her wings so badly, to escape with Kara, Lark, anc Pascal. But the cold surface of the metal ring reminded her that they couldn't. Not yet.

Pascal was roughly shoved out of his confinement by a few generic whitecoats, the heavy metal collar limiting his head movement. He looked around the best he could with the collar on, desirig so badly to stretch out his wings and escape, but he knew there was no escaping now. Not yet, anyways. He felt his gravity shifting again, and he found himself being tossed into a chamber at the beginning of the tubes. They were closed off at the moment, but when they were opened, Pascal knew they were in for the running of their lives.
Lark was brusquely pulled from his cage as well, the collar slightly too big for his neck (loose enough to allow him to breathe, anyway), and he was soon marched over to the chamber. He gave Pasc a worried look, not being able to hide the fact that they were in danger.

All four were soon out, standing closely together. Kara's blue eyes shone with worry, and she oculdn't help but slip her hand into Lark's for a small bit of comfort. It didn't help much, but at least she knew that whatever they faced, they would face together.
Rue tensed, taking deep breaths. She had no idea what lay beyond the tunnel, but she was positive it wouldn't be pleasant. Panic fluttered inside, and she fought to ignore it.

Lark squeezed Kara's hand back, knowing that he was not alone in this and whatever lay beyond the tubes, they would face together. "Ready?" he asked quietly, but loud enough for them to hear.
Pascal gulped, the metal collar suddenly feeling tighter, although it had not changed size since it had been snapped around his neck. He balled his hands into fists, allowing any excess worry or fear he possessed escape through the hard clenching.
A whitecoat holding a timer, glaring at it intently, counted down. "Commence in five. Four. Three..."

"Not really," Rue muttered under her breathe, barely audible.
"Two...one...go."
The tubes began to open, and Rue's heart pounded wildly. Her hands clenched into hard fists, her brown eyes stared apprehensively at the openings, adrenaline coursing through her.

"Stay together," Rue replied quickly.
"Which way do we go?" Kara asked, clutching Lark's hand in a tight grip.
"Uh, let's go left," Rue said, taking a small step in that direction.

"Okay." Pascal said, following down the dark, mysterious tunnel with no idea what to expect.
Lark kept his hold on Kara's hand, grateful for it at the moment. He followed the others, his eyes flitting from side to side, keeping his guard up at every sound, every slight movement... until not much became visible anymore, as it became shrouded in darkness. "Where do you think these lead to?"
