Darkness...darkness enveloped him. The deepest depths surrounded him, murmuring low melodies...
Something gently nudged him.
From above, ripples began to disturb the subspace below...
The "Something" rocked harder, muttering under its breath.
The waves were rejecting him! He fought against this new unseen current, but it continued to shove him closer to the light of the surface...
*** "Come on Sespyn, wake up already!" Lyllii hissed frantically, desperately shaking her companion.
*** Ah, but it was to no avail. The light grew stronger and mercilessly harsh.
*** Sespyn's eyes slowly fluttered open, his pupils slightly dialated from sleep. "Well, what is it? Did someone die?" he snapped sarcastically in the same harsh whisper.
"Of course not, you dolt!" Lyllii retorted. "It's your turn to keep watch!"
Sespyn raised his left hand to rub the nape of his neck sheepishly. "Right, sorry Lyllii. You and Kasha get some rest; I'll keep vigil." With that, he quickly reclaimed his staff from where it lay on the ground beside his bedroll and trecked a few feet away until he came to a large boulder he discovered earlier. Once there, he quickly scaled the top of it, deciding to make that his perch for his watch.
*** Once he was gone, Lyllii exhaled a weary sigh before finding a soft patch of moss by the roots of a nearby tree. The wood nymph eased slowly onto her side, brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them for warmth, and did her best to sleep. It was hard to imagine that so much could happen in less than twelve hours -hard to imagine, that is, until you've either experienced it or something like it before. Still, the old rush of giddiness and anxiety still throbbed in her chest and belly painfully. Even though she technically barely knew these people -excluding Sespyn!- she still felt she could call them her friends, and apparently Kasha must feel the same way. With these last few thoughts, her unease subsided a little and allowed her to drift into slumber.
OOC: alrighty...another character can take over the vigil after Sespyn's turn OR we can fast-forward to morning; whoever posts next can decide that.

Kasha felt quite vulnerable and rather open after pouring our her soul to Lyllii, after hearing Lyllii pour out her own soul. The feeling of being vulnerable was not one she enjoyed. Kasha laid down, ears back uneasily. She felt relieved, as if she had been waiting to get that off her chest. And she felt like she could trust Lyllii; they had been through quite a few life or death situations already. But still, pouring our her soul, some of her secrets...it made Kasha feel exposed, uneasy. Paranoid, almost.
Kasha carefully kept her back to the cave wall, cat eyes wide and open. For what felt like the longest time, she laid awake, tracing the scratches on her staff lightly. Her staff...her one last link to her father. She held it close, positioning it carefully. Wrapping one "hand" around it, she continued to trace the small battle scars that were faintly etched into the wood. Then, in the midst of exploring the wood's surface, she stumbled across something she had almost forgotten was there.
Feeling it carefully, eyes focused as she attempted to make out the faint marks in the wood, Kasha eventually made out the small shape of a heart, along with the words, With love, Daddy. Even though that name seemed childish, even to her back then, she found herself calling him that, holding on to her childhood habits stubbornly. "Daddy..." she whispered. If only she could call him that now, see his eyes, sparkling as he laughed, his warm smile as he greeted her. His arms, wrapped around her, comforting and supportive, carrying with their embrace the silent promise that he would always be there for her. He wasn't there now. And that hurt Kasha more than she dared to admit.
She fell asleep with a silent tear trickling down one cheek.
Morning sunlight hit Kasha's eyes, and the anthro let out a small yawn. Though a good night's sleep had certainly helped, her emotions still felt slightly...unguarded. She firmly pushed whatever remnants of sadness that lingered into the back of her mind; she couldn't bring him back. No matter how much she wanted to.
Struggling to shake off the memories, Kasha glanced out at the sun. It was barely past the crack of dawn; no one was up yet. Kasha left, trying to be as silent as possible, wanting these few minutes to be as quiet and peaceful as possible. Her staff firmly clutched in one hand, placed carefully over the small words, she walked a small distance away from the camp.

OOC: I'm so, so sorry that I haven't been posting. I'll understand if you guys want to kick me out... Otherwise, I'd like to stay and continue. I'll have to read everything since my last post, though, unless someone would want to summarize real quick?

OOC: Moki- Of course you're still wanted! It's pretty much a given that this time of year is extremely hectic for just about everyone.
Surprisingly, not much has happened with the actual plot: the characters finished their supper and turned in for the night. Lyllii and Kasha took the first watch (as an excuse to talk privately; they tell the other about their pasts) and Sespyn took the second. The last post ends the "first day/night" and begins with Kasha waking up the next morning.
Everyone- Okay...one final note. I am working on updating the "main plot" (making it more detailed, adding a code of rules, etc.) Feel free to browse it if you wish (once it's up; I make no promises as to when) but the basic "groove" of this RP shouldn't change too much, so hopefully no worries.

OOC: Okay, thanks a bunch! 8D
Aaron blinked sleepily as his body finally realized just how long he had slept. He had fallen asleep early, probably even before everyone finished supper. He couldn't exactly remember, everything was fuzzy... all he knew was that he went to sleep early. It didn't matter much now anyway. Everyone around him was passed out and asleep... except Kasha. She seemed to be missing. Probably went on a walk, Aaron reasoned. He was hungry, though... Thankfully his human form could retain foods such as vegetables and fruits. If it weren't for that, he'd be stuck starving (as his dragon form only had the stomach for meats). Though his body agreed more with meat, veggies seemed the only thing around for miles. He settled with walking out of the cave, though not leaving it's boundaries too far behind. He just had to get something to munch on.

Kasha was basically spacing out, mind randomly jumping from thing to the next with no apparent pattern. The whole time the tip of her "finger" gently traced the words carved into the wood. She stayed like that for what felt like a long time, though the sun didn't seem to move all that much. A small twig snapped behind her, and Kasha immediately snapped out of her daze, leaping up.
The anthro whirled around, staff clutched in her hands, held in the familiar position. An actual look revealed Aaron, her staff poking his chest. Kasha let the weapon drop. "Sorry," she apologized softly. She sheathed the staff, offering him a wry grin. "Didn't hear you coming."

Aaron blinked twice before realizing that he had just joined Kasha, the one who had been missing from the cave earlier. With a small moment to gather his bearings, he laughed as she sheathed her staff. "Feisty, aren't we?" He joked. Looking around at such a peaceful area, he said more quietly, "Did I disrupt something?" He walked just a foot past Kasha and knelt near a tree by the river nearby. Leaning against it, he sighed quietly, wondering what the group was going to head off and do next.

Kasha shook her head. "No...just thinking." She fidgeted with the hem of her shirt; she stopped as soon as she realized what she was doing. Obviously she hadn't completely shaken off the feelings from last night; she would have to remedy that. She firmly locked away those emotions, saving them for a later time, pushing them to the back of her mind. For now. Her hands stilled at her sides; much better.
"Did I wake you when I left?" Kasha asked after a small, silence-filled pause. "Or are you just an early riser?" If it was the former, then she needed to work on her stealth skills; the skills her father taught her. Kasha, once again, shook of that thought. Not now, she mentally chastised herself. I can think about that later. She locked away the feelings again, this time throwing away the key.

Aaron turned his head halfway towards her, a smirk evident on his face. "I wouldn't say I'm an early riser, but the dragon side tends not to like sleep," he said. "You know the history of dragons... slain the second they take a quick nap. I guess evolution has a way of beating the weakness out of you." He paused, unsure of how to continue. "Anyway, it's just my human side that needs so much sleep. Don't know if you remember, but I was out before any of us finished eating. My muscles were probably aching. So don't worry, it wasn't you." He swiveled his body to face her entirely. "In fact, if you had come back before I had awoken, I would have never known you had left."
In her eyes, he noticed something off. She seemed... not on guard, not as protected as her usual self. As if something really did seem to be troubling her. Not knowing if this was entirely true or not, though, and unable to bring himself to ask about it - he knew about troubled pasts - he decided to change the subject instead. "Feel like helping me find something to snack on?" he asked.

OOC: After this, I'll stop posting so we can wait for Anaquine.
Aaron nodded, thinking hesitant thoughts to himself. "Well..." In truth, his voice sounded just an octave around embarrassed. He wasn't necessarily used to being in a group, and therefore, he was not accustomed to explaining his certain... likes or dislikes - for lack of a better description - to others. Thankfully, Kasha seemed to understand he wasn't a vegetarian. Still, it only made it the slightest bit less awkward. "Yeah. Though I doubt we'll find any around here. I'll settle for veggies," he said this last part under his breath, as if he wanted her not to hear, but no doubt she probably would anyways, "Assuming I can this time..." He was thinking of several occasions where such greenery had not indeed agreed with his pallet...

Aaron, upon realizing that Kasha had heard his side comment, was ready to blush out of embarrassment. He had been traveling with her and Lyllii for days, though. He found them both trustworthy, so what was the harm in telling? Well, besides being embarrassed, of course. He began with a stutter, but quickly managed to keep his voice level for the duration of his speaking role. "I-uh... well... that is to say, I usually don't end up stomaching ruffage very well. I have been able to, on occasion, due to my human side, but uhm..." Now is where it began becoming uncomfortable. He hated having to admit that his dragon side affected him so much, because often he liked the advantages of being able to act normal. He realized that the dragon was a part of him, but he just didn't like having to know that it controlled him much more than he wished.
He was spared further commentary on the matter, though, when Kasha revealed that she knew a spot where there were indeed some prey to be caught. "Really?" he said, standing up immediately. "That'd be great! We can hunt together!" He said, forming the traced outline of a grin on his lips.

Kasha gave him an understanding look. "I'm a bit more cat than I admit at times, as well," she responded, her tail flicking to one side as if to prove her point. She sniffed the air, sensitive nose picking out the subtle scents of the forest. Recognizing that Aaron would probably want to change the subject, she responded to the rest of his comment. "It's this way, by the way," she said, gesturing forward to the left.
She led the way, holding up a finger to her lips to remind Aaron to be silent. He most likely didn't need the reminder, but it was better to be cautious when hunting easily startled animals, such as the rabbits Kasha currently had in mind. After not too long a walk, they reached the small thicket. "Here," she mouthed silently.
